This is a great interview! I grew up watching the original DC Talk and saw Newsboys in concert when John James was lead singer and it was a delight to hear the guys talk about their past and present experiences.

I wish the Newsboys would write real music again. They're basically a radio-friendly worship band with questionable theology now, but in the 90s they were writing real songs without sugarcoating them (e.g. Elle G., an honest song about suicide, and Always, a song about parental abandonment). The Newsboys haven't had anything interesting to say in a couple of decades.

Don't forget "Lost the Plot." One of the best songs to come out from a Christian band ever.
