Enormous respect for this man, particularly when he says the conversation with Prince, 3 weeks prior to his passing, "will forever remain private." That is loyalty and true friendship. Hard to come by in any circumstance, let alone the entertainment industry.

@@coachrobinson9958 he left prince to do gospel music. He spoke about sinister elements that prince was into. He stated that the band would watch the 700 club because of what was going on and he told God that he would lip sync. He soon realized that you can't fool God. Just Google Dez Dickerson says you can't fool God. Its very interesting.

Often the best recorded solos are the ones done without pretense or thought of what people will think of it. That's why Dez's guitar solo on 'Little Red Corvette' is iconic. He played exactly what the song needed at that given moment, no more no less. #respect

+CIGARA ST CISTAR lol. Yes Dez was amazing on the guitar, as well possessed an uniquely awesome aura on stage with Prince. He ripped it every time they performed "Do Me Baby" LIVE together. Any guitarist (who loves r&b) would easily confess to say Dez Dickerson was indeed a contribution to the soulful growth of Prince. I'm privileged watching Dez articulate his story in such graceful style. It's to expected of him. They fantastically put Minneapolis on the map.

+sweetdaddy cooled Agreed. Dez was a bad boy. I saw them WAY back in the day when they were the warm up act for Rick James (1980). There is a dual guitar solo (btwn him and Prince) at the end of Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad that (live) they extend for almost five more minutes of sheer beauty.

Wow, wish I was there, I was only 10 at that time, but I did get a chance to see him when I was 13 in my home town. Saw him two more times at the Forum in Inglewood CA. where the Lakers use to play when Magic was running the show. Something told me to go see him because I did not know how long he would be alive. Teena Marie died at around 53 and I regret never going to see her in concert. I saw Prince in concert about 3 times in Total.. Greatest I ever saw live bar none.
