We've always had steel cables attached to our outboard.....saved us from loosing our grandfather 's 19 Hp Johnson years ago.....as the cables kept the motor suspended until we reached shore. To this day securing duals cables to the transom is just part of boating......👍👍👍👍

We lived on a sailboat out on the hook, I was taking the kids into shore to go to school and we were just buzzing along… We had a 15 hp Johnson pushing a 19 foot Boston whaler . it’s simply ejected off the transom And sunk. We dove for a couple of weeks and actually found the engine, immersed in freshwater… Had it tuned up a bit and ran it for the remainder of the time we had the whaler!
