Floridians who have lived here know that a 3 day tract is never correct and of course now it’s going to go more south and hit ft myers and Miami. News exaggerates. These things always wobble to the right.

@@brandon7233- Until they don’t. There’s that saying “it’s better to be safe than sorry.” Why risk it when there are children in the scenario? Like, it’s our job to do our very best to keep our kids safe. Is doing nothing other than bunking up together in the same room doing their best as parents? Not so much. I live in an area that never ever had tornados……… until we did (in 2019) and when it happened, it literally flattened 1/3rd of my town. I will never take that warning for granted again. Not everyone gets a heads up, so take warnings seriously when they happen. Notice is a blessing.

@@brandon7233 This one's never been seen before. A fifteen foot storm surge of raging water can tear a house apart. The debris left over from Helene will become air born missiles. Imagine trying to get to safety in the middle of that, with a toddler and an infant.

I'm usually one for "mind your own business," but this woman has a toddler and an infant. That seems like endangering the welfare of a child. Those kids don't have a choice. I know the police all have a lot to do already but I genuinely fear for those kids . If she has a death wish, that should be her choice. How do we even know she is mentally competent? What kind of mother hears that a monster of a storm is barreling down on you and you have two little ones and you think *nah I'll be fine hope I can get some sleep* Ashley Banfield, its your show you should report this. IF she can even get cell service you know this is the kind of selfish a -hole that will be calling for rescue in the middle of 120 mph winds after the roof is blown off and the water is pouring in and no one can swim. STOP encouraging them and giving them attention.

The excuse “ I’ve been through a lot of these storms” is the next storm that could end it for them. Mother Nature is very unforgiving. I truly hope the best for them but we are fragile beings. A hurricane at this force you can’t control. I’m not so sure a hurricane proof window 🪟 may hold up when half your house has lifted off the ground and lands in another county 🫣

These people think that the worst that could happen is they lose power. I have seen storms like this. One, wiped out 70% of the houses, leaving 41,000 people homeless in a city of 47,000. (Darwin). No water, no electricity, no sewage. Death everywhere. The remaining people weer evacuated afterwards for health reasons. Another time, in another city, I looked up at a light-post, and at the very top was a plaque, saying, 'Flood levels, 1948'. Water is not still water in cyclones and hurricanes, it is a raging torrent, rapids. People do not survive in such water.

I don’t know all of their personal circumstances, but as long as they’re at least a couple miles from the coast, don’t have big trees or limbs hanging over their home, and have couple weeks of food and supplies, they will be fine. I’ve been through some horrific hurricanes in the panhandle with small children, including cat 5 Michael a few years ago, but I have hurricane windows and shutters, a generac, and am 5 miles from the shore. I used to do evacuations, but after sitting in traffic for 8 hours for an overpriced hotel room, I decided to invest in a generator and took a few basic precautions to honker down instead, and have been fine ever since.
