Finally someone admitting how hard it is to follow that fast "Screwball Comedy" talking! Kristen's old time accent was great and loved Zooey's "you guys are whacked" bit is such vindication to people like me who like it slower...Loved the way she parodied it and tried unsuccessfully to do it lol!

This is a specifically trait of screwball comedy (30s-40s as mentioned), not all "old" films. I personally found His Girl Friday a bit obnoxious in its exaggerated witty (and pretty abusive! :D) banter and hectic pace, even compared to other classics in the genre. Conversely, I really like Bringing Up Baby and love Arsenic and Old Lace.

I am in love with this entire skit. I cd have watched hours of it, a whole movie or even series. It’s how I’d feel in that environment, but it’s an environment I admired in those movies! Executed to perfection except Zoe’s makeup was really smeared. How come she looked all blurred and shiny? Kristen and Jason were on point 100%.

The new audience only appreciates stupid plot, poor writing, and so called uncontrolled/ out of character laughters of one of the comedians. The comedians of course only laugh when the audience is not laughing yet because the skit is so bad.

I’m going to go ahead and say Zooey Deschanel is by very far one of the best SNL guests. She understood every assignment and took it seriously in true comedy. SNL get’s Hollywoods biggest A-List actors, and their skits are always pathetic all-cringe-no-laughs flops. And then you get Deschanel and her scenes are hilarious and professionally performed. Bravo!

When I first saw classic movies back in the 80’s when I was a kid, I was so impressed by how fast they spoke. I also really liked the accent. It’s transatlantic. They had to learn how to talk like that.
