With smaller tunnels than a typical subway, wouldn’t that mean there would be congestion wherever a vehicle exits the tunnel because it holds up the ones behind it as they wait for it to exit? What if multiple vehicles want to use the same exit at the same time? It looks like only one vehicle can use an elevator to exit at a time, which seems super slow. I like the sound of improving drilling technology, but despite all the hype, the Loop doesn’t make any sense to me as a mass transit system. What am I missing, here?
@Newsthink4 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Johnson sounds like there may in the future be side tunnels to exit, according to TBC website. But I haven’t seen a video illustrating this as of yet.

Lol, except the proposed design doesn't account for physics, so It is going to be slow, inefficient, and pose huge safety risks. In fact, for the convention center loop which is already being built it would probably be faster to replace the cars with bicycles, because an individual could go just about as fast, and use far less space. Also the safety risks are so much lower, and a breakdown won't prevent the whole thing from working.

@FROZEN EGGY Exactly. And since a single set of tunnels costs far less than a subway we could create an underground highway system that would allow us to enter the system anywhere in a city or one of the feeder-suburbs and exit anywhere else in the system. And you could go from door to door rather than travel station to station. Take a look at a subway map for a city like London or Paris. Look at the parts where there's no station close by. The Loop, costing far less, would allow entry/exit points all around, not just a couple dozen big stations.

Quality content my ass. Maybe on other video clips because for certain this one does not have quality content, just blowing up Musk into stratosphere hype. The Loop in LA didn't cost $10 million, but $53 million, was late, it's WAAY short of the 4400 passangers/hour for at least 13 hours/day and it doesn't have fully autonomous pods, but normal cars with drivers (which, btw, means significant extra running cost, as 62 drivers is nothing to sneeze at). Yeah, it was cheaper than that NY subway tunnel, but we're totally not comparing apples with apples here. The LA tunnel is the smallest it can be and has absolutely 0 (ZERO) safery features. No ventilation, no space for pedestrians, no exits, no fire dispensers, no bypass lanes/tunnels. I can't wait for a simple car breakdown to happen and to see all the Musk fans coming up with excuses that he's still a genious, even though his solution a) totally does not solve traffic and b) is inferior to subways.

I think people overlook one of the biggest things that probably makes Elon so capable in doing things like this. He comes up with a crazy idea. One so off the wall that people dismiss it in droves. He waits for that to calm down, then, when people start saying WHY it can't be done, listing each and every hurdle that would have to be overcome to make it feasible, let alone viable, he pounces. He starts going through the list, taking each and every reason they say it CAN'T be done, then figures out a way to make each of those things possible, only to combine them in the end and bring what he originally wanted into reality. I don't think he ignores the nay sayers. I think he NEEDS them to help him bring about his visions. For him, they're probably far more valuable than a hundred yes men on staff.

That a channel named NewsThink would regurgitate non-news without any thought is the definition of irony. Musk is a con-artist, and this project is one of many proofs. A tunnel? What a novel idea! But one without ventilation, fire suppression, or access ways is called a death trap, not the future of transportation.

Ohh yeah, lets make a claustrophobic tunnel with no escape tunnels or other safety features and instead of trains let put cars in them, make them go super slow and with much lesser capacity than a subway. GENIUS!!
@haiikyuufannn22342 жыл бұрын
??? there are escape tunnels that are 2km distance apart, teslas are also the safest cars in the planet. The cars are going to travel at about the speed of a modern airplane...I also think Elon Musk a world renowed engineer praised for his work would know something about g-force and saftey. Everything you said was already covered in the video. Did you not watch the video at all??

I had an idea similar to this, every car is linked to a data system. Every car will be able to communicate to each other(not people). They would be able to know when a car would pass by so they’d go at a speed where they would never go under 15 mph.

This is the most laughable plan by elon musk. This is just a expensive private underground highway. And they already dumped 2 things they had. This doesn't solve traffic, you just put a shortcut for people willing to pay it. We already have paid toll booths for private highways.

This has been debunked considerably. Newsthink's credibility is reduced by them believing the hype and regurgitating the incorrect data from the brochure. When you say "This is an early Prototype", you need to realize that it is not a prototype, it is a CGI rendition - a big difference. And 155mph in a tunnel that length, as you report, is just not possible. Go try it for yourself and report back on the actual speeds the cars drive. Please strive for credible journalism if you are going to do it at all.

Currently the fastest train is the French TGV, with a record of 357.2 mph, but that was back in 2007. If they were able to achieve that speed back in 2007, then it’s not impossible with the new technology these days for HyperLoop to go at 600+mph.
