To clear the confusion, only vegetarian dishes are served in the Manipuri Hindu temples. The fish feast shown in the video is at a community hall of some other locality as he mentioned, not in the premises of the temple.

in most hindu temples veg is served but in eastern side of india hinduism has non veg too mostky fish and mutton , in west bengal we have few festivals where we eat non veg but few festivals we only eat strict veg , so hinduism itself has emmence amount of diversity in philosophy, cultures, eating habits , but still some core principles are same , we also have diversity in our gods too

This is why Bharat is called a very diverse country with rich thriving ancient cultures and traditions. Within Meitei community, you can find people following different religions. Even within a Meitei family people may be following different religions. One my friend form Manipur is a Hindu, his mom & dad are Christians, his sister in law is Muslim while brother in law is Hindu, another sister in law is christian. In the video the host mentioned about Sanamahi community, Sanamahi is the original religion of Manipur, Sanamahism is an animistic, ancestor-worshipping religious tradition. Traditionally every Meitei household, irrespective of the religion, worships Sanamahi and Leimarel Sidabi. It is very difficult to explain in words, there are so many layers to it. The place you saw is inside the Temple, yes non-veg inside temple. Welcome to Bharat, different cultures, different traditions, different rituals all still alive and kicking. "India is Endless"...and that is why i Love my beloved country

Andh bhakt spotted here, before commenting atleast read all ancient hindu religious texts like veda's and upanishad.'s. For today's so called Sanatani's it may be embarrassing, but truth is that ancient vedic hindu's used to consume even cow and horse meat. Rig veda does mention after conducting yagna's, there used to be animal sacrifice's, which includes horse, cow goat, and ram, and consuming it later . Vegetarianism is later addition to Hinduism, because of Influence of Buddhism and Jainism. I am a South Indian hindu, here except brahmin and Vaishya communities all consume meat, excluding beef and pork. In this age of information technology, no body can mislead or spread falsehood, every information is available at the click of the button on mobile

There are many ways in Hinduism....for example in Bengal, which mostly follows the Shaktya ways (worshipping Shakti), devotees offer meat to the goddess....this offering happens inside the temple....in some kali temples in Bengal, the goddess is offered fish every day....that is later distributed as 'bhog prashad' to devotees....this may be surprising to many, but this is the normal way of worship for us for ages..while many people these days try to say Hinduism should be practiced in some particular ways only, actually there is no single prescription in this religion.....it evolved in different parts of India in different ways..and all the different ways of worship are equally true and legit..... "my way is better than yours" is an imported concept in this country.....so when people try to put this religion in a box or define it with a rulebook they do it because they do not know how diverse India is or how diverse Hinduism is.

There are different occasions where only vegetarian foods are serve and even moong dal and garlic is not used as ingredient cause it has a meaty taste to it and if it is non veg then No other kinds of meat is serve accept fish items. The premises where the food is being serve is community hall separate from the temple. As for your question on different brahmins who cooks food is just preference choices made by the people but its not that we cannot eat from another cooks. Its the same but people chose according to vegetarian chef and non veg chef expertise for preparing which kindof food on a particular occasion. Nothing can be mixed up with one another it is done purely thats the reason.

Yes, the Hindu tradition varies from place to place. It mostly depends ob the culture and tradition of the particular region. The Sanatan Way of Life flourished through out the subcontinent only through acceptance. Its a philosophy that preaches "Live and Let Live". And so anyone can do anything, worship anything, pray to anything, do nothing, or be a atheist just like me. It sounds funny because I am a Hindu but an atheist 😂 I don't believe in the religious concept of creation nor do i worship any entity or energy nor do I seek spirituality But still i am a Hindu because of the Sanatan Dharma ❤️ Love you guys. Lets spread love and happiness ❤️

Hinduism is a very open minded religion which has never restrained any of the Hindu with strict restrictions. For example, Manipur is a state which is filled with wild vegetation but has lots of rivers. So Manipuris considers that the supreme lord has blessed them with the rivers so they have the rights to use its resources. And therefore fish is sometimes used in temple kitchens in Manipur. Just a matter of fact, since I am from Puri and have been working in the North East, what Hinduism says is that the one thing Jagannath doesn't like is pride and ego. Even if you scold the lord, cry before him, or you swear to him HE won't punish you. But the moment you show your pride and ego, you are done. The LORD despises pride and ego only! Nothing else!
