The call to fight for freedom is being answered, in a major way, by Ukrainian women. They are not conscripted to fight, or to risk their lives on the front lines - they are answering a call that comes from within themselves.

In ancient times Ukraine was matriarchal, women historically had a lot of responsibility but were respected members of society. When russia started their subjugation of Ukraine they gradually destroyed the social order established in its lands, giving more and more powers to men. Hopefully restoring its national identity Ukraine will be able to restore women's important role also
