i am watching your videos on math since my first year in university you are a great teacher

Brillant and simple as usual. Its a shame that a lot of people are using these videos..but are not liking them when they find them useful!!!

what if you dont have the function of the graph? Only the derivative, its point and initial approximation.

Does anyone have the link of part 3 of this example?

without doing any division how can we used newton's method to approximate 1/root5 for solving equation f(x)=0 with appropriate selected f(x)

How do you guess which number to put?
@mjohnson51010 жыл бұрын
you put any number you want.

+Rambo Lim A number that makes y/f(x) close to zero would be smart. In this example, Patrick tried 0 first and the result was -1. If he had tried a larger positive number, f(x) would have been larger. If he tried a negative number then f(x) would have been even further away from the x axis. Zero was the best guess in this scenario.

my prof has this solution of using y=m(x) + b. why is that?

hey man you i know to find the x-value but how am i supposed to get the y value... i tried inputing the x value inside the f(x) but the answer turned out stupid ... haizzz btw my x-value's correct

For example, if it was f(x) = x^3+7, how would we know what to choose as x1?

4 years late but im pretty sure u just guess the number or its given

i have a question: why bother doing all this to find approximations of the x-value when you could just solve the quadratic equation and arrive at the answer straight away?

@fldoughboy72 then why does newton's method even exist? when we can do it so easily?
@WahranRai11 жыл бұрын
Why not illustrating your explanation with Excel (similar ) worksheet Excel. It is easy to implement for limited iteration.

why we need one side =0 ın other word, how can understand it we need to make g(x)=f(x)
@gayandream10 жыл бұрын
because at the point of intersection, f(x)=g(x). got it?
@Ravengal1018 жыл бұрын
+ebru uyar A root occurs when f(x)/y=0, so setting the equation to zero prepares you for the search.
