Careful with paint on the sides and bottom of the primary. Difficult to remove if it starts to loosen. Better use adhesive flocking material. Also much blacker. And don't worry to much about the mirror clips. Once you prevent random light to bounce off the sides of the primary you're good. I put a small piece of flocking material on top of each clip, just to be safe. The mod that has paid best off on my scopes are an aperture mask that rests on the spider. Just a ring, 10-20mm, cardboard flocked on both sides. Easy to install and remove. Make 2-3 in different sizes. Shields the focuser tube, nuts on the spider ends, and to some degree prevents light on those egdes and clips in the bottom. And a draw-string bag around the bottom. No stray light from outside.

It's ok, I love Newts own two of them. I've already flocked one, soon I'll be flocking the other one. Enjoy it!

I have a Skywatcher 150pds, new to astronomy, and break out in a cold sweat when I hear modifying. I'd be ok if someone else did it, but I think I'd wreck it if I did it.
