I personally think that them airing this episode was a great idea. People need to know what happens during a shooting. And as far as people saying that it was "too soon," it wasn't. And before the episode even came on it gave the viewers a warning, and if the parents of Newtown victims don't wanna watch it, then don't watch it and don't go trash talking the show's producers. What they did was smart. I'm not trying to be disrespectful to the victims family's because what happened in Newtown was very tragic, but to me they're being unreasonable.

Couldnt have said it any better, "too soon"? Your tell me were 4 season in and its too soon? Its okay you newtown people that u dont wanna watch cause of what happened to you, but its good for people to know this. And why tf do they need to reach out to yall? Just dont watch it and they would have to reach out to so many families victimized by shootings.

Too soon? People, I think this episode couldn't've come sooner. If your trying to censor it for kids and families, guess what? A gunman coming into school and shooting people up is REAL. It could happen at my school or your school. I watched the shooting scene and they handled it very well. The teacher in the scene was responsible and kept everyone safe. Parents, show your kids this and stop hiding it from them, the students and teachers in the episode handled the situation quite well and maybe your kids could learn how to act in a scenario like this.

How is this too soon? I can't stand people who talk about something being "too soon", it will always be too soon and the healing will be there forever. Discussing these issues and getting people to understand the magnitude of such a horrible event is a must. Anytime something bad happens in America, people don't want to talk about it and that's the problem with our society, we avoid & act like it never happened. Maybe that's why our world is in such a pickle right now. The time is now, not later

They didnt reach out to other school shooting families either. I realize that school shootings are a tragedy but they happen. Glee deals with real high school issues. THIS is a real issue. Newtown families need to realize that and not get all pissed off about an episode of a TV show. It brings the issue to those who need to see it in a semi related way, it brings it to the TEENS

What made this episode so great in my opinion was that the situation was handled delicately enough, so that it wasn't offensive to people, but it still gave enough information and seemed genuine. There have been hundreds of school shootings before this, and they will continue to happen, and I feel like what Glee did was simply showing people that. This is a big topic of discussion right now, and this was aired several months after the CT shooting, which gave enough time to at least start the healing.

I went through a school shooting this past year and I can see both sides. I believe that this episode was very well written and the actors did amazing. Everything about the episode was perfectly portrayed. However, I can see the side of how it might be too soon. But it is not the producers responsibility to contact the families about it. It is not a shooting at an elementary school. There was not talk about them having to contact families of Columbine victims. I applaud the Glee writers and actors to do this episode. I thank the show for showing how scary it is not knowing what is going on and not knowing where your friends are. Still have nightmares about it. Good job Glee.

I relate to the fear. No one ever shot a gun in my school but there was a threat and a date. As the date quickly came. The more scared everyone was. The teachers didn’t teach they did fun and meaningful stuff. Then on the date we did nothing but wait. The police were everywhere and we went to regular classes. It was terrifying. No one felt safe. I came home crying. Half the school didn’t come the next day. It was empty and eerie. I never want anyone to know that feeling. Unfortunately, people will know that feeling. I hate that they will.

glee is all about addressing modern issues and problems such as, teen pregnancy, suicide, gun violence in schools, bullying. i dont see what’s wrong with this episode, it informs people. guns don’t belong in the hands of someone who’s not mentally stable, especially not in a school setting. they should be dealing with that instead of complaining about an episode of a show.

I think this episode showed a lot about how scary it can be for students stuck in a shooting. It also made sure to show teachers who were calm and sought out to students stuck in places they couldn't get out of. It also showed how students would need to behave during a shooting. For example when Sam was starting to talk and Will had to repeatedly tell him to sit back down. It also showed aspects of how hard it was for Marley knowing her mother didn't pick up the call and how they reacted knowing it could be their last day. It showed vulnerable parts of Artie and Kitty as well. And most importantly, it showed teachers who knew exactly what needed to be done in the circumstance and knew how to keep the students a little calm

I remember when “Buffy” delayed their school shooting episode “earshot” by three weeks because it was set to air right after columbine. But times have changed and there have been so many mass shootings in the past few years...kids are somewhat desensitized to it. Nearly every teen tv drama has a school shooting episode...how can they not be “used to it”? Makes you wonder, harm or good?

Personally I believe that especially now in 2019 that it’s never really to soon to talk about something so serious like school shootings. Glee is one of the shows that was brave enough to talk about a topic like it. The episode was so well done. It didn’t surround the idea of a school shooting but it showed that we as humans need to look out for the people we love. We need to love each other and know that anything can happen at any moment. Shootings are sadly so repetitive at the moment in our country and we need shows like Glee, the fosters, and other shows to talk about it. It’s a real thing that’s going on and people need to be shown, one what it is like, and two to show that you and everyone need to start being more prepared.

Sandy hook was a very tragic shooting but Newtown, CT does not OWN school shootings. They also don’t OWN Glee. They can’t tell the producers what’s too soon and what isn’t. I think it’s very entitled to say people should reach out to your town personally because 1.) you didn’t watch the episode (because you aren’t even a fan) and 2.) your child/children survived. And if that’s the case you should’ve had them reach out to Columbine families, Virginia Tech families, Red Lake families and countless others. As much as it hurts. This message needs to be spread. Although the MSD School shooting happened after Sandy Hook, it took Nikolas Cruz 6 minutes and 20 seconds to kill 17 people and injure 17 others. Little time, too many lives. It’s a powerful topic and it’s a necessary one.

For example Quinn's pregnancy , Kurt being bullied for his sexuality, Artie's disability, Becky's disability, Will's marital problems, being labeled, David Karofsky attempting suicide and accepting himself, and now this! We shouldn't be afraid to touch on these matters, because they make us want to do something about them.

This comment is HELLA late, but I just want to say, I had chills the entire time, Morse has been under a lock-down, and Florida got it bad, it reminded me of this episode... man, everything is scary now.

...and one of the victims of Columbine was also in the Virgina Tech Shooting. A family member of a 9/11 victim was on USAirways flight 1549... those incidents may not have had a media related story attached to it, but it was a moment for those individuals in which something tragic that happened years prior, can resurface itself and remind you of that moment when it first happened. They may have healed but that healing isn't absolute. There is no right to time discuss important topics.

I don't get it. People complain that there's not enough prevention and that people always address issues "after the fact"... and now they're complaining that its "too soon".

I am so sorry about what happened in Newtown and any other place that there was a shooting but honestly, i don't see how that episode of Glee could be offensive or make anybody mad in any way. They NEED to show that to prepare people and to show what it's like to go through it, and hey maybe it even showed some people who thought about doing it, how much pain and worry they would cause people. Glee, i applaud you for doing this episode

Man people are ridiculous. The actual scene where they're on lockdown only lasted 10 minutes. Its not the writers responsibility to reach out to people at a school. I get that this is a serious issue, but the people who worked on glee aren't obligated to tell someone about an issue just because it happened to you

I certainly understand the concern, but at the same time, I'm pretty sure I remember Fox airing a ton of preview commercials for this episode, so anyone who was a fan or was paying attention to the commercials would have been aware that Season 4 Episode 18 was going to center around a school shooting.

They actually had plenty of warnings to not watch the show. If you looked online just about every site said they got a warning about glee's episode. Also they can't reach out to every parent in Newtown to warn them about glee.

When you’re in America, lockdowns happen more than natural disaster drills. When I was in Middle School, we had a fake shooter, but no one actually knew it was fake, not even the teachers or principal or anyone. It was a drill for the police. I can’t remember all the details, especially since I remember just being terrified, but I was in math class when we got the lockdown warning. Our teacher looked alarmed and made us do the drill, and locked the door. All lights off, and we had to be completely silent. What was really terrifying is the guy (fake shooter) went right past our classroom and down the hall. Our door handle shook, and then it was quiet. Idk if the guy shook it or someone else. I remember holding onto my best friend for dear life, because I was terrified that we’d be killed. My mom was also in the building that day cuz she helped work for the school, so I was so scared that she was going to be killed too. We heard yelling down the hall, and I wanted to cry so badly. It went quiet for awhile, and eventually the lockdown ended, but our teacher kept us in the room while he went to talk to the other teachers and staff about what happened. The guy had pretended to bring in flowers for his wife who was a teacher, and they let him in, but then later discovered that his wife did not work there. I don’t remember all the details, but I will never forget the feeling of utter terror that swept over the whole school, and just how tense those quiet moments were. The other main time I remember a shooter is during a pep rally. I was part of the band, and we were in the gym. It was to raise money for a cause, and one of my teachers (also one of our schools main security), was duck taped to a wall. Every piece of duck tape cost a dollar and if we raised enough we got to throw a pie into his face. We all had a great time, up until the very last song. It was my favorite one, but we never got to play it, because the principal ran into the gym and alerted everyone to get into a classroom and that we were on lockdown. The band went first, and everyone got into a classroom, regardless of if we were part of that class or not. Apparently there was a guy with a gun outside the school, and he seemed kind of off. I remember softly talking with one of my friends, while I held my best friend’s hand cuz I refused to let go of her. We were on the highest floor, and it lasted for about fifteen minutes before the gave us the clear. Then we all went home and my mother already knew by the time I got home lol. There was one more time I remember a legit lockdown, but I don’t remember anything about it except hiding in the locker area in the band room. We have this long section of the room in the back, sort of like a giant closet, for all our instruments. It has a sliding door, so you can close it and the room will look empty with you in the closet room. Our band class took all our instruments with us and went to hide back there while our teacher closed the sliding door thing. We were silent the whole time, but had to sit in uncomfortable spots cuz it wasn’t very big. Idk how long we were in there, or what was going on, but I do remember the relief of being able to get up and move around again. Honestly, once I became homeschooled, one of my biggest thoughts was, “Now I don’t have to deal with school shooters”. Jokes on me though, cuz just a few years back I was in the hospital with my mom, and there was a person who got shot in the parking lot. We were in the waiting room, and suddenly we heard the gunshot go off. Everyone panicked a little, especially when the police ran out. Some of us ran to the window, and could somewhat see what was going on. Apparently there was a guy who was in his car, and was mentally unstable. There were nurses trying to get him to come in, but he refused, and ended up shooting himself. They brought him in as fast as possible, and I even saw them wheeling the guy in. He had blood everywhere, and was super pale. I don’t think he survived. I do however remember feeling terrified and wondering where to go if a shooter entered the building. I feel there are definitely not enough protocols for the general public when it comes to shootings. And they happen a lot more often here than people realize.

In my country I've never heard of a school shooting (we r a small island) but with this episode I've actually gotten to know what it's like... I know things like these happen I'm aware but these things shouldn't be hidden you should teach your kids the truth of the world rather than hiding it. If you hide to your kids they'll grow up thinking life is a walk in the park and when this happens they'll take it really badly. The episode was a good wake up call to help people take control and do something.

I understand where the people of Newton are coming from, and my heart goes out to them, but are they really talking about how this is violence? This is what America is becoming. This is real. So if people don't want their children to see such things well that's impossible.
