Came through snow and driving rain I came free and I came chained I watched ships pull up on shore Worked and played, lived and died Valleys deep in mountainside Don't say you don't need me anymore 'Cause I ain't going nowhere 'Cause I'm right where I belong I don't have to love it And I don't have to leave it Ain't no stranger here, I am your native son Soldier, sailor, servant, slave All the blood and sweat I gave I sang songs of home I left behind My head's been beaten, my soul's been spent My taxes taken, my back's been bent And no one ever paid me any mind And I ain't going nowhere 'Cause I'm right where I belong I don't have to love it And I don't have to leave it Ain't no stranger here, I am your native son Been written out of every book Jailed and slandered, robbed and took But I always found another way Earn in a factory, fought in the streets Hung from the bridges and died to speak I brought you everything you have today And I ain't going nowhere 'Cause I'm right where I belong I don't have to love it And I don't have to leave it Ain't no stranger here, I am your native son Ain't no stranger here, I am your native son I'm your brother I've been beaten and mistreated I'm your daughter, I've been lied to, I've been cheated I'm the one they call now when everything's in pieces The forgotten child that you thought you never needed I ain't going nowhere 'Cause I'm right where I belong I don't have to love it And I don't have to leave it Ain't no stranger here, I am your native son Ain't no stranger here, I am your native son

Man, that beginning intro has the same cadence as "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and I can't unhear it.

This should be the Republican anthem, I'm so tired of being vilified for being a patriot. Best thing I've heard in years. Oh... and can somebody make sure Trudeau gets a copy? Way to go brother truckers of Canada!!!!! "I BROUGHT YOU EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TODAY"

@@Raja87051 Shhhh, nobody tell this "gal" that so-called "Native" Americans aren't any more "native" than Europeans are. They just moved here before the white man did, nothing more.
@tangytango2749 Жыл бұрын
@@Malikyte13 Native as in they predated other humans. Using this logic nothing is native, and that's worthless semantics. Why did you even bring them up? This song is about James Baldwin's collection of poems about race in America, namely how minorities are written out of history. It's a pretty bitter album, as with most of their music.
