As both a daughter who was never asked for forgiveness and a mother of a daughter who i ask forgiveness from, this song is so powerful and beautiful. I hope he knew at some point in his life what a gift he was to so many of us. 🥺

One of my fondest memories as a young buck was meeting Justin when he toured with Dan Auerbach. 2009, i was in 7th grade. He signed me a copy of midnight at the movies and took plenty pictures and was just so beyond kind. He chatted and listened with intent with a young kid interested in making music himself. I'll hold on to that forever.

Knowing his relationship with his father, addiction and the fact he had a young daughter makes it absolutely heartbreaking. It's like a future conversation he never had but understood was a possibility

almost unfair his kid will grow up not knowing him but this song instead. not to say his deception of himself isn't honest.

JTE will eventually go down as one of the great American songwriters. Too bad it'll probably be in a couple decades that people really notice. Thanks and maybe now you can rest JTE ✌️🙏❤️🥀

I agree..it's a shame that most of the music that "makes it" in this era is of such poor quality

I don't know how one can miss someone they've never met. I've carried a picture of Justin in my wallet ever since he passed. He's the same age as me, maybe that's why it hurts so bad...

Couldn't agree more, I think it's his greatest all around, at least it's my favorite with Nothings Gonna Change as a close second.

Saw him perform this live a couple of days ago. It's about a guy getting out of prison and meeting his daughter for the first time.

Thanks for pointing that out. I assumed girl friend, but going back to the lyrics that makes more sense.

Great song. Is that a pedal steel? It really establishes the mood so well.
@indiegemsthatjam39864 жыл бұрын
Tom I'm sure that's his pedal steel player Paul Niehaus ... great player and super nice guy ... chatted up me and friends for prob 10 min after a show in Charlotte ... hanging around the tour bus - '70's style. He really caught my ear with this JTE tune Unfortunately Anna ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6vOgnibbb1sgNE

because he got the insipiration in an old latin story, but in reality, it is facing the hard situation he was living (drugs problem needing help, isolation...) so the first time his wife listened to it, she cried.
