When choosing an Archetype do not choose based on weapon choice as that can be swapped at anytime, choose based on the crafting skills bonuses as each crafting skill listed at the bottom will start at level 50 instead of level 1. I myself will be choosing Bow/Spear because it offers Engineering and Lumbering at level 50 and lumbering is one of the slowest and most difficult to level up as it takes cutting down hundreds and hundreds of trees, and Engineering allows you to craft better iron and steel gathering tools right at the start making it easier to level up your gathering skills.

@@DoomKnightPK Yes you can choose any weapon at any time, You can level every weapon type to max. choosing the class at the beginning does not give any bonuses to the weapons. Only bonuses that matter are the trade skills boosted to 50 at the beginning. I will probably be doing Bow and Greatsword as I love how Bow feels in this game and Greatsword gives great survivability plus huge damage when the mobs get in close.

@Tclipz48 I always go into betas looking for specific things. For this one, I wanted to see how it felt on Console. I ignored the story, skipped cutscenes, and then crafted a flail to test it out and then got to 20 to see how mounts work. Then I quit and knew I'd buy the game.

Nice message of hope. I actually started playing the beta because my son really wanted to play it with me. He is at an age where we can enjoy this type of game together. He told me he really liked the game much more because he got to do it with me. For the hope, it took me years to understand the importance of balance in my life and taking time for myself. We need down time to ourselves whether that is meditation, gaming, reading or just some quiet outdoor time. I like gardening and mowing as my quiet time.

Definitely should give new world a try if you’ve never played. I’ve put almost 300hrs into this game on a single play through, and looking forward to starting a new one oct. 15 Most of the negative reviews are from people who have put hundreds if not thousands of hours in this game and are upset that there isn’t unlimited content. Sure end game atm is repetitive but that’s why it’s called end game, It’s the end of the game lol.

I played the Destroyer and Ranger up to 20 in the beta (i.e. not for very long) just to get a feel. Getting the related armour and weapons early was a nice, but I think the bump in the trade skills was the more immediate bonus. When this goes live I'll decide on the trade bonus I want and switch to the weapons I want. Win/win.

To further clarify one thing on the starter archetypes: the trade skill boosts are free levels in those trade skills. As an example, with ranger you start at level 50 (vs level 0) of lumbering already so you dont have to grind young trees before being able to chop mature trees. So it isn't a permanent boost or anything, just a head start on the selected skills. This might be even more important to some (crafting-minded) players than the weapon/armor you start off with, because you can respec your attributes for free and easily buy/craft the weapons you want but you can't buy yourself 50 levels of grinding a trade skill after character creation. So skipping some of that grind can save a lot more time than having to wait a few minutes to find weapons.

Your positivity kinda makes me want to try the game. I always felt like I missed the window to play this game during the pandemic, and that it is a dead MMO. It seems like NW is becoming more of a solo RPG with multi-player which is kind of OP. A bit tired of group play in games.

I highly recommend this game, there is a lot I personally enjoy and for what the game asked of me to spend vs the fun I got from playing it, I would do it all over again. I think MMOs are a test of survival, if you can make it past 3 years you can easily do 10. At least that’s what I see from the data.

Be forwarded, a lot of the game is locked behind pvp and they have ZERO anti cheat, and ZERO interest in banning anyone for exploiting bugs. Customer service is like talking to a wall, as well. Also, the crafting system low to mid level is amazing but end game crafting is about the worst thing I've ever experienced in any game maybe ever, everything is locked behind either spending your entire afternoon grinding gold to buy the materials, or spending weeks farming the materials yourself.

This is the ultimate cozy mmo, if your a min maxer hard core end game player thus is not for you. Its basically a high rez Minecraft without building. It can be totally soloed now except for endgame. Rushing in this game is basically skipping the game entirely, just play slow and enjoy.

If your on PC and you have the base game, you don’t need to buy the expansion but you won’t have all the content when new world aeternum drops in October. If you don’t have the base game get the elesian edition which gives you the base game and expansion. If you don’t want to buy now new world aeternum will go on sale and include all the content

So my buddies and I are wanting to play but some of us are in the East and some are the West. Do characters carry between regions or no? I’m just curious because I don’t want to make a character and not be able to play with them due to region restrictions or something of the sorts

You can transfer characters from the different regions, I don't know if match making is cross-region yet, but it is cross-server so I hope that helps.

Playing the beta just now and the Musketeer does a combat roll, where as most other archetypes do a dodge move. Is that related to weapon or the archetype?

Related to armor weight type. Musketeer is light armor type, so they do a dodge roll. Once you past a certain armor weight, you do a dodge.

I started GS and felt under whelmed hitting mobs, played a bit of archer and hit like a truck and when things got close spear was hitting muxh more than GS in the alpha build. Does this change later in the game?

If you have the expansion rise of the angry earth there is nothing you need to buy. If you don't, there is nothing you need to buy unless you want to get into the new endgame, that would just be buying the expansion. So this is the game reborn so to speak, better tech and systems runs great and plays great.

Man I don't want to hate, but where is all of this optimism about the game coming from? You, and many of us, are vets from the PC version, and we've been getting screwed for a long time now. Your question is answered time and time again in videos, in short summary my position hasn't changed. 1. This is what is needed for the game, and the direction that I've said they've been going the whole time. 2. Their announcement and marketing was awful and they could have done that much better. 3. I love the game, my opinions on how they marketed the announcement aside, this is the right move for them to bring it to consoles, full stop. The game and community will benefit from it. 4. It's not about October, the real test is what does AGS do next, and right now they haven't said, so we're still waiting for that roadmap :) Hope this helps answer your question.

As far as "time and time again" questions like mine being answered, to be honest I haven't watched any New World videos in a while, and then this one popped up, so I clicked it. Forgive me for not staying in the know on how you feel, or understanding why. Beyond that, I just have no faith in the team anymore, and I feel like as soon as they get the money they can from this venture, it'll be more of the same. I love the game too, dearly, but getting jerked around like this was too much for me. Maybe one day I'll still return if I see signs it's changing for real. Sincerely appreciate the reply.

Nothing against anyone ho has children but I definitely agree with majority of this video but having children can really put a strain on on you psyically and mentally You just don’t get the time to do the things you want to do because they have to come first which I think sucks You do get long lasting memories and fun times having children but there is more of a majority of couples that split up when they have kids and it hurts you financially I would rather be able to go buy a new gpu to game on when I feel like it or buy a bunch of new release titles when I feel like it Unless you have a really good paying job you can’t do that like I said nothing against anyone who has kids But I’d rather not have them so I can do what I want when I want to
