A very nice video. I find however, that it's better to carve out the bottom of the pumpkin rather than the back. Cutting out a hole from the back can be seen (so it isn't seamless), and the backing for the hole, could fall through. Instead of water and lemon juice, there's a product called "Fruit Fresh", which can be bought at a grocery store. It's a powder that you mix with water. Used to keep salads fresh etc. But, I tried on a car rd eggplant before, and it didn't start to oxidize for over 12 hours! Also, for drawing lines on a pumpkin, the best tool I have found, is an "India Pencil". Instead of an Exacto Blade, a couple of the best knives you can use, are either a Japanese Mukimono carving knife or a Thai style carving knife. The linoleum cutter works, but there are actually a large number of carving tools that are easily purchasable online of various sizes and shapes. The linoleum cutter would be called a "V" cutter. The arms were created by Ray Villafane and can be bought online. Excellent work by the way sir!

I've been seeing all these beautiful and adorable jack-o'-lanterns for years and have been wanting to do them. I just wish I wasn't afraid of sharp things.😔
@akatsukiawsome1311 күн бұрын
You can use a blunt “saw” type knife, it doesn’t have to be sharp enough to cut you! When I was a kid we had a rounded tip “knife” with teeth that wasn’t sharp at all. It worked just fine, you should try this year! 😊

Why carve a hole in the back rather than the top? Also I've heard doing a quick bleach bath once finished helps preserve it, have you tried this?
@79bull Жыл бұрын
I guess so you don’t see lines where the lid is. I’m taking this as I can put the big hole anywhere I want 🤔🎃
@akatsukiawsome1311 күн бұрын
@@79bullI have seen people use the stem as a nice and funky nose. Definitely put the hole wherever you want! If you are making a pumpkin with a big enough mouth/background opening, you can even use that as your hole, as long as you don’t accidentally break your design holding it while carving/putting your hand in there 😅
@akatsukiawsome1311 күн бұрын
Did you try bleach? I’m afraid to but would love to enjoy my pumpkin I carve this year longer 😅 Leave the stem and then it can be easier to hold the pumpkin
