George Booth came to visit my art class back in the early 1980’s. He shared his process. It was such an amazing experience to have a peek into an artists mind. He was so kind and generous with his time.

Finding this was about the best present that was ever given to me!🎁To think that I’ve been a The New Yorker subscriber and a George Booth lover for over 40 years and never even knew what he looked like or what his voice sounded like is now a total mystery to me. What a splendidly sweet little documentary this is and how I’ll treasure watching it again and again - not to mention sharing it with friends and family. Thank you‼️❤️

Fun fact: George Booth was born on June 28, 1926, in Cainsville, Missouri. On the same day, another baby boy was born over in Brooklyn, New York. The latter baby was named Melvin James Kaminsky. These days, he goes by Mel Brooks.

What a great little film about a true master. When you’re the king of the New Yorker cartoon world, that’s saying something. George Booth can put a caption that makes no sense on a completely berserk drawing, and you’ll be rolling on the floor - all the while unable to explain why the funniest thing you’ve ever seen is funny. Looking at a Booth cartoon is like many of the best things in your life: you just have to be there.

Booth is magnificent. A master at using words and facial expressions to turbo-charge his cartoons. I'm surprised the documentary didn't mention his greatest cartoon, the one with the caption, "Whistle you dumb b*****d!" If you don't know it, do yourself a favour and look it up.

seriously there is a way to document a human being in advanced years that leaves them the dignity of their life in tact. And the kind that paints them as a frail fragile thing. This video does the latter. Get them documented on one of their "good days" where they are in a good mood and very clearly communicative. Otherwise you are just tearing them down before their time.
