Four employees and manager arrested in restaurant raid

Four employees and the manager of Tang restaurant were arrested during a raid today. This is part of the compliance inspections carried out by the Department of Employment and Labour at Sandton City. The employees were arrested for allegedly working without work permits and being in South Africa without the necessary documents.

Even if these employees are documented foreign nationals, they should not be working. According to the law, low skill jobs should be reserved for South Africans. HR needs to prove that they tried by to hire a SAn and they couldn't find any suitable for the post (which is very unlikely).

This is what amazes me about this country, government ministers and members of law enforcement do go to restaurants and they can see what kind of people are employed there.
