The South African government's arrogance and decision to implement an expatriate tax demonstrates poor foresight and economic understanding. This policy has forced many South African citizens living abroad, including myself, to formally terminate their tax residency and relocate their assets overseas. Where I once regularly invested millions back into South Africa, I've now ceased all financial contributions. This shortsighted tax policy has resulted in significant capital flight, depriving the country of valuable foreign investment and economic growth opportunities. The government's attempt to generate additional tax revenue has ironically led to a substantial loss of foreign capital inflow.

In the United States many companies get major tax breaks and loans for hiring the poor. But as as soon as the companies get the money they look for reasons to fire those same people they got paid to hire. Then look for another poor employee to get the same tax break. So they never pay for most of their staff. Many wealthy people get tax breaks on every dime they spend. Even on high ticket items like luxury cars, Beach front land, and jewelry. The true tax payer are paying for everything with no tax breaks. It's a wicked game.
