The ANC will lose votes because of it's incompetence and corruption , not because of it's alliance withe DA. It would also have lost votes if it had a MK/EFF alliance.

Yoh! What an interview!!! I have watched listened to most of the interviews for the Witness to Power "book tour". This is by far the best! Mathews Phosa is impressive, witty, quick on his feet and exudes authenticity and integrity. This interview brought out very interesting points. Well researched interview! The book was definitely read in detail. Stimulated to read it as well.

I picked a few things from this interview: 1. Zuma did not initiate the removal of Mbeki, but he supported it along with the majority of the ANC-NEC members. Contrary to the widespread narrative that Zuma removed Mbeki 2. Phosa had a serious fallout with Mbeki to an extent that he engineered a motion to embarrass him by depriving him to finish his second term 3. Zuma is not being truthful when he now says he was against the removal of Mbeki because he did not oppose the motion back then instead, he supported it 4. The fact that Phosa felt the burden of taking upon himself and his law Firm the Phalaphala matter in defense of Ramaphosa leaves me suspicious that he (Phosa) is part of the powerful men who are willing to do anything to keep the incumbent in power in order to steer SA to their desired destination 5. Since 1994, we have never had a clean preside.

@siyamdluli on number 4 Phosa want to contest for ANC President in the next coming elective ANC conference, so for him to support the removal of Cyril before 2027 will very much limit his chances of being elected as the leader of the ANC. So he can't afford such a motion to recall Cyril now because someone who'll take over from there, and will have a better chance and an advantage over Phosa.

It's appalling to see people dismissing Mathews Phosa's valuable insights as a mere attempt to stay relevant. Clearly, they're oblivious to his profound influence on South African politics. As a key figure in the ANC's negotiation process and a witness to the country's dramatic power shifts, Phosa's perspectives are invaluable. *Setting the Record Straight* Let's give Mathews Phosa the respect and attention he deserves. The Stellenbosch crew didn't protect Mbeki bcs they thought Zuma will protect their interest, unfortunately he did what was supposed to done according to the ANC policies. Rama came in as deputy president and started collapsing the soe's for privatization and his handlers manipulated the currency to make the sitting president look bad which they suceeded hence the Zondo commission by Madonsela. All of those who brought him down were rewarded, Zondo who failed his interview got the CJ job, Thuli a professor in the WC and Rama is protected by his handlers in the WC and ANC can't even take a decision on him bcs their(NEC) criminal records are in stellenbosch.

The ANC already lost votes ; this is because of their bad governance and corruption. The loss is exactly the reason why they are in a coalition. With time the ANCs bad governance and corruption is getting more and more apparent: crime, poverty, unemployment, mafia, water crisis, immigration crisis. These will see the ANC lose more votes, especially because for the first time ever black South Africans can imagine a South Africa without an ANC govt. The general public is actually happier with the GNU than an ANC only govt. It is the ANC members and affiliates who do not like the GNU.

Dr Phosa is surprisingly- and refreshingly- blunt in this interview. The 30 minutes felt too short. On a separate matter: why don't producers write political series about history such as the Polokwane conference and other fascinating political stories we've witnessed in the past? We are tired of the same storyllines about taxi owners and criminals selling drugs. I would watch a series going deep into the machinations leading up to Polokwnae or Nasrec 1 or even Nasrec 2 or elections of May 29, 2024 and its aftemath.
