'The driver did not follow policy' - Golden Arrow

The mother of Lifalethu Mbasana, who was forced by a Golden Arrow Bus driver to walk home from Simon's Town to Khayelitsha says she's not satisfied with the action taken against the driver. The bus driver forced the 11-year-old boy off the bus because he did not have his ticket. Siba Mbasana says it's not enough that the bus company only suspended the driver. Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer says the driver was wrong as he did not follow company policy.

The drivers was gonna get suspended for picking a child without a ticket anyway. Golden Arrow must account. Golden Arrow must start by paying all the damages they have caused to other road users. Everytime an accident involving Golden Arrow bus they don't wanna pay for people's car when at fault.

The hawks must investigate Golden Arrow. They like to throw their drivers under the bus when it soothes them. If the inspector finds any person on the bus without a valid ticket, the driver must go for disciplinary hearing. Please sue the company. It's not the driver, it's company policy. My father was also a driver.

I am so cautious to drive on sections of the N2 in the evening. I can't imagine anyone, let alone an 11-year old having to walk. Mind you, bus companies are subsidized by government (tax payers)...This is a child, for goodness sake!

And can I also add to this 1 wrong mistake the driver did results in him being portrayed as being a criminal, he lost his job ,his bread and butter at the end of 5he day his got a family he needs to provide for as well ,and jobs is scarce I'm south Africa I'm sure he regrets the decision he took....we human we make mistakes at times.....most criminals, rapist,murderers ,gangsters etc get away with so much and no1 hardly stands up against them yet a honest working man who made one mistake is being criticized, judge ,disrespected etc.

if the age is 13 cutoff to let the child stay on the bus,could it be that the driver thought the child was 14 or older.how does the driver realy know what the childs age is.i understand and feel for that family,realisticly put you feet in his shoes.if the child was not 13 and older would he also be suspended.so can you see how difficult it must be for the driver.

The mother should be charged with neglect. Why did she not check that he had his bus ticket? Why did he not know his mother's contact details? And why did the child not know he could make contact with the police who would help him? Its going to be very interesting to find out all the actual facts of this case. Child neglect is a very serious problem in South Africa....

Go ahead and blame the victim. She was at home. He lost his ticket during school hours. Sometimes even adults forget their next of kin's numbers when in shock. He wanted to go home so he walked. Yes this is a very terrible story, but people can't just say they must do more to the driver. It's not about what you want. There are laws in place and if Golden arrow just fire him without proper procedures then Golden arrow can be in trouble in court by that driver. Then no more Golden Arrow. People need to follow rules and laws first. That's why this country is going down because no laws are being followed. The driver will be fired, it just takes time due to the employment act. The same act that protects each and ever South African at their work place.
