Namibia can outsource the skill needed for this project both in Africa and maybe across the world, but it is sad that we always have African who want to be led. They can even delays the project by 1 to 2 years, they can send their own engineers abroad for few years for necessary training. After this they can do the project themselves without this multinationals companies that are only interested in exploiting Africa.

100%! Why expend valuable revenue on building a refinery when Nigeria can probably refine Namibia's oil. Just collect lease royalties and taxes and use it to develop Namibia's human and social capital. Let the oil giants do the heavy lifting, they'll be making the majority of the money anyway. Going into debt to build a refinery just delays Namibia's growth.

@@andreanarine8179 South Africa, too, has refineries, and they are neighbors to Namibia. Sad really that we never see african countries working together, each benefiting from what others do not have.

Don’t think like a greedy person. It’s better to have 50% of something than 100% of nothing. Africa does not have a lot of engineering talent.

@@andreanarine8179There's already talks to partner with Angola on that area, so I think think save us more money, time and others resources to go with our neighbor such as Angola. Probably we can also develop our own refinery not in the distant future, as this option is also not ruled out.

You do not understand the 10% Namibia receives royalties and taxes that are close to half. That is before the profits are shares.
@briopalumpus86762 жыл бұрын
namibia can even get 50 percent share but that means that namibia will have to fund its fifty percent share before the oil is even discoverd, and the chnaces of finding oil in i one in 50 chance and each well drill costs over 30 millions usd just to drill one well.

10% + 37% of tax is = 47%
@lehlohonolomapitsi8607 Жыл бұрын
10% of revenue is different from 47% of profits that can be manipulated such that the company hardly makes any profit. Tax loopholes are so many.

Really doubt there is oil. Seems like an investment trap
