I have this plane- made by VQ models. In fact it is my avatar! Anyway, it does fly nice and has quite a few scale details for a plane this size. A few things though... 1) No flaps is scale- the super cup had flaps, but the J-3/ L-4 did not. 2) The model is actually a clipped wing cub, which is not scale, at least for the warbird, but that makes some basic acro possible 3) The covering looks nice and is actually painted, but is very soft, easy to tear, and gets soft in the summer sun. The kit comes with a few patches for repairs, one green and one grey for the underside. 4) The full-scale version of this plane, last I checked, is owned by a Danish Commercial pilot, and frequently flies at airshows. The full-scale has had green, blue and white checkered, and a red and yellow checkered cowl over the years.

Nice!!! Thanks MotionRC, you give us so much to choose from. And I chose the SU-35 a couple of weeks ago and Loving It. Got Freewing Landing gear to improve other planes and jets. Decals to detail models, I could go on and on. Thank You and hope to see all of you guys at Joe Nall next year 😃👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻

That's a great paint scheme. I'd think twice about Altoona lake, been there, the water can be rough. That's a really nice airplane 👍. AirHammer out!!

We fly on Lake Acworth, it's next to Lake Allatoona. Lake Acworth is a little smoother.

Nice! The Nexa line was a great pickup for Motion RC. Please do a vid on the Twin Otter, I was one of the lucky ones that got one. It is next up on the bench when I finish my current build.

This is the plane my ex-wives grandfather flew in World War II. Heard some interesting stories of him piloting this plane.

What's with the 'wheeler' landings? Why do so many RC pilots seem to think that's how tail wheel aircraft should be landed. there are a few aircraft and situations that that is the best approach, but for most light tail wheel aircraft the 'Three pointer' should be used. (45 years full size tail wheel experience & 55 years model flying)
@louissharpe62364 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. I prefer to land this plane on the mains and let the tail settle, rather than slow to near stall speed and 3-point land, especially if we have a cross-wind at the field. With the big, high wing and relatively light weight, it will ground loop easy with a cross wind.

It’s a shame MotionRC have opted to rebrand VQ Models offerings into Nexus. VQ models tend to be overly heavy for electric , yet alone IC and generally prone to tip stall. This cub should be OK though, since... we’ll it’s a Cub
@louissharpe62364 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...I have four VQ / Nexa models and all of them fly great. I don't think any of them are prone to tip stalling when piloted properly. I agree they are a little heavier than comparable sized ARFs from other manufacturers, however the strength of the construction is worth the difference.
@cackroyd63794 жыл бұрын
Louis Sharpe that’s not my experience and I’ve been flying quite a while, both full size and models.
@johnnymensi18654 жыл бұрын
Looks a little tail heavy
@louissharpe62364 жыл бұрын
It's not tail heavy, I can assure you. When I roll inverted, it needs a small amount of forward pressure on the elevator stick to stay level. I spent a long time working out the balance.
