Next.js 13 vs Remix.run | What should you use?

I am not moving away from Remix any time soon. I'm glad shopify got remix since I also build a lot of shopify apps.

Intrigued to hear here that you prefer Remix yet most of your big projects on your channel are tutorials using Next! Fwiw I also prefer Remix & think the more Remix content the better!

Well, even tough I like Remix more, it does not perform very well on KZbin. Nevertheless, once remix v3 will come out, I will most definitely create a new video.

I just switched to remix: Thank you very much. I have made the same experimental walk with next13. It isnt stable. i my project the hydration errors were the horror. Now i switch to remix. and it think its the right step.

Based on your name i assume you are german: Remix hat auch gewisse Probleme mit Hydration, die durch Extensions hervorgehoben werden. Habe aber mitbekommen das durch Upgrade auf carnary das Problem eliminiert werden soll ... Das Coole ist aber das jetzt bald vite stable wird, was dx noch 10-mal besser machen wird. Viel Spaß!

In meiner Projektkonstellation habe ich unter Remix aber keinerlei Hydration errors mehr. ich denke, das neue Nextjs hat eine vielversprechende Zukunft. nur brauche ich jetzt eine Technologie, die stabil ist. Remix passt für mich und auch deren vorsichtige Haltung zu den Server Components.

When I tried nextjs, it took a few seconds to navigate with any link (the first time), but I did see edits on one route in a few hundred ms. In remix route navigation was fast (dev v2), but total time to see an edit was a few seconds, 3 on average. I tried their indie stack example and was seeing like 10 seconds per edit, maybe because of msw. Vite does it all in like 50ms. Do you have a remix project with some node modules installed that shows edits in under a second? My computer is data science friendly desktop from two years ago.

Thanks brother. Appreciate the point about speed being a non-concern for most apps. Your really have to have a lot of usage and tuned backend to have either of those frameworks be the bottleneck
