no . it has to do with the evolution of play styles and patterns that a majority of people adapt to and just start doing sub-consciously while still having the same knowledge of combos and footsies. the change of gameplay was based on knowledge of how players change their styles over time especially since the fgc went digital (and i mean digital in the sense of social media) and foresight , and by foresight i mean seeing exactly where the play styles based on how the game play has already "evolved" previously over the years. its actually a very VERY graeat "read" on the "creators" part *cough , cough*

+Garviel Loken They want to make every character competitive and not have only like 2-3 characters with better tools than the whole cast. To do that you can't just release a bunch of characters and hope for the best. For example, that Naruto Storm game has like 70+ characters and like a handful of that cast is actually very good (or broken with bs) and those are the only characters you are going to see in high level play (if they even have high level play) and it's just not fun to watch. Same with MvC2 and MvC3, you usually see the same teams in top level play over and over. I think 16 characters for SFV in the beginning is good and it will get better later down the road.

It is a bit much but you can buy the characters that get released later down the road with in game currency. There is no doubt that you will have to grind for them but then again that's how fighting games are when you play them often/play competitively.

+Jughead Jones and we all know Vanilla wasn't as complex as this last version (assuming this version will be the last of USFIV). I can say that I wasn't much into Shine (cuz many Yang players love to mantis slash) but seeing Shine adapting through the years, I was quite impressed and just accepted him as a player I respect. Yes, Shine should be named one of the greatest USFIV players. no doubt about that. great footsies, able to read his opponents, and his bnb combos... omg. an AMAZING PLAYER 👌
