One of the most original projects I have seen on youtube with several embedded cool tricks like carving technique, hiding unappealing beech dowel pins and turning a drill press into mini lathe. Impressive ingenuity to confirm that necessity is the mother of all inventions :)

Realy nice ! Just one thing. i would have made a 45 angle join on the corners and adding "keys" to reinforce the join. I try to show the least end grain on a such creation. Your hand made "handle" is realy pretty and thanks for showing your way to do it !

Vaccuum dried wood is the key Briefcase is the same as it was when I made it. Only darker. Maybe there is more uneven gap when closed. Instead of straight all around there is small bowing. Which amateur eye won't notice. Thank you

Excellent work. As others have said, the carving looks great. I thought the choice of Timbers was also very good. I make a lot of boxes - and this is essentially a large box - and would have made it slightly differently. And I mean differently and not necessarily better. I would have rebated joints at the corners of the sides and then chamfered those edges to match the depth of the rebate. That makes the rebate effectively disappear to the eye. If not a rebated joint, I might have used mitre shims to strengthen rather than dowels. As I have a Festool domino, I would be looking to see if the thickness of the timber used was enough to enable me to use them as they are great for strength and alignment as well as hidden. I want to stress again that these are not criticisms - just an expression of how any two woodworkers would make the same thing in different ways.
