🔴 Enjoying our small improvement so much this week!! And getting closer to putting pretty things in the renovation is keeping us going, because the weather has just been abysmal!! Turns out one bean bag cannot be divided by three... so not sure if that idea was a good one or not! But better than landfill I'm sure. Thanks for coming back for another week!

When posting comments about resemblance to famous people, someone said she looks like Elizabeth Taylor. I think she looks remarkably like Natalie Wood. The voice over made me smile. Nice idea for the polystyrene waste.
@growinginfrance9 ай бұрын
Gosh I think you're right, we just looked her up and there's a striking resemblance (Becs is very flattered 😊 ) I think the bean bag was definitely the highlight of the week.

Hello Everyone! Jack! You are doing an amazing build for the comfort of your family! I know that you probably have a lot of more renovations to do, but you should also kick back and enjoy your handiwork with your precious family!🙏
@growinginfrance9 ай бұрын
Thanks Mari, there's definitely a lot to do, but we make sure to always take Sundays off. Spent this morning out on a walk, and played boardgames all afternoon 🤩 Family time is really the most precious thing to us, and that's another reason we can't wait to have the new space sorted, as it should be a lot more comfortable for us to all hang out in.

Hi Jack and Becs (never spell your name the same way twice😅)Good to hear that you keep Sunday for the family times. I’m sure you’ve heard it before but the kids grow up so fast and this time is more important than I can say. ❤❤❤

Hi Jack & Becs. Things moving along really well! Jack, my son-in-law made a super concrete base and then placed a shallow sink top on it. It looks so good! Used a dark grey cement which would be perfect with the tiles you picked out. Now if we could just get more subscribers to your channel!!! I’m not giving up! ❤❤❤

This year has been exceptional in your region of France , as well as the northeast and northwest, with the record high amount of rainfall and storms….much like in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy. At least the water tables are full and there won’t be any drought for the farmers this year. I live in the southeast of France where more rain would be appreciated.
@growinginfrance9 ай бұрын
Yeah, we keep thinking of all the farmers who'll be loving the rain and cannot wait to see all their fields full of sunflowers and grapes 🍇 ☀️ 🌻 It's so hard to imagine that anywhere in France is in need of more rain, but it's great to get that perspective. Please feel free to take some of ours! 😂

Excellent video and well done on the placo and insulation. We've reinforced our old wall (mur en torchis) from the 1800s using MAP. But do keep your tools out of it! 😀
@growinginfrance9 ай бұрын
Haha thanks! Yes I've learned now, that MAP gets very hard all of a sudden 😂😂 First time is always a laugh, and there won't be a second.

The fewer the grout lines, the easier it is to CLEAN! Consideration: That bathroom doesn't get a whole lot of light. Those dark, cool-toned tiles may make it extra dark and feel 'cold.'
@growinginfrance9 ай бұрын
Thanks Ginger, for both of these really good points! There will be a couple of down lights going in the bathroom soon, and we landed on the more beige lighter tiles in the end. I love the sound of easier cleaning though!

Guys, you have a stone house , I think the eco friendly choice is hemp lime plastering for internal wall. There is an english couple they are in Portugal, they have made a few video about it, the channel is Make Do Grow. I hope helps. Greetings.

We had a granit basin for 2 years but had to recently swap for ceramic as I couldn't clean it. When new they are highly polished over time it gets porous and dirt and soap attaches. Advise you do some research on concrete or stone basins in this regard. Well done on what you doing going to look great

Hey Jack, ... would recommend using a "injection" system on all outside walls : kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3TGq2abbKypbqs .... probably the best/ easiest solution for you guys to control the moisture in the walls.
@growinginfrance9 ай бұрын
Wow this looks really fascinating, how does it work? I’ll have to do some research. Thanks for the tip!
@paulgoddard60922 ай бұрын
Unfortunately this style of dpc system doesn't work on old French houses that are built from stone, mud and lime.
