He makes us so proud, and it doesn’t really come across exactly how many hours and late nights and working in freezing conditions has gone into getting to where we are, but that’s all Jack and I really adore him for it, nice to see others see the hard work too!! Thanks so much 💚

Some old houses have a soul - and if you are able to look and listen - they start to talk to you --- i am sure about this. There are one or another of these buildings around that want to be a "forever home" -- They are often able to choose their new owner by them self ..... And as always DIY translates to Do. Undo. Redo. Have good Christmas time -- and a very good new Year -- all of you - Greets H.
@growinginfrance3 сағат бұрын
Do. Undo. Redo. 🤣 ain't that the truth! We love what you said about forever homes, this place definitely wants to keep us around - I don't know if anyone else is crazy enough to try and fix her 😅 Merry Christmas Harry

Your drawer slides would’ve worked if you had routed a hole in the bottom of the door and put a caster to keep it level. On the other hand, what you installed looks great and you should be proud. As for the drawer slide, use it in the kitchen drawer slides are the most wonderful things to put in kitchens on the shelves. You can use them to pull out not just drawers but platforms to set your kitchen supplies on so you don’t lose them in the back of a cabinet somewhere
@growinginfrance2 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the idea Jena, I think you're totally right with the right size castor that would have worked - we tried with a wee ball roller (not everything can always make it into the videos 😅) , but it struggled a little with the weight and dragged a bit which was marking the floor - after all the work we put into that floor we really just didn't have the guts to risk anything else 😂 but we're pretty happy with the regular slide, it's not so bad hidden behind another piece of the wood we love so much 🥰 will definitely use the sliders again though, love your idea for a sliding platform!

@growinginfrance11 сағат бұрын
Thanks Karin! We really must do a full tour of the longere some time, our immediate plans are to do new rooms for the kids upstairs, a second bathroom 😅 and then we'll see what we tackle after that - there's a full tour of the big house (the maison de maitre) on the channel though if you're curious. that's our long long term project. What the heck are you doing for a living if you have 3 kids and can afford working on this property like 24/7?!
@growinginfranceСағат бұрын
Becs is a wedding photographer (super glamorous, lots of travel), and I work part time for a software company writing documentation and making videos (much less glamorous, but I like it 😂) between the two of us, we have a lot of flexibility in our schedules that lets us renovate, and hang out with the kids. It does make things a little tighter on the budget, but that helps force some creative decisions, and we do our best to work with second hand materials (or rocks we find in the garden 😂)
