Thanks Chocky! Yeah they've honestly been great. No mold since we installed them and very comfortable and practical. You can see what is in the locker before you lift them which is great for under the mattresses since its so much effort to move everything around to just realise you mis-remembered where the item is. My only regret is not doing it straight away and ruining our professionally made custom mattresses... Highly recommend!

The normal kicker was a good idea, gives you a lot more flexibility without ripping brackets out! watching these videos makes me want to untie now and start traveling! few more years for me yet☹️

Hello, the vang are only for stern winds, so the larger sail does not rise, tense by hand no by winch machine.

Thanks Mario for the tip. Yes the problem we ended up having was gusts from the stern 'tugging' on the vang repeatedly until something breaks. Partly because I would forget to release it a bit when letting it out.

The device you replaced on Navika and called a "Kicking Strap" is also know as a Boom Vang.

Yep! My understanding is that a kicking strap is when you use a block and tackle whilst a boom vang is rigid

beautiful destination!…those vangs…I’ve been sailing all of my life and have never really appreciated their purpose…I know what they are supposed to do in shaping the main unless you have a loose fitted one…I’ve always thought about having a soft one rigged so that you can easily disconnect from the mast and clip to a fitting on the toe rail to be used as preventer… Foam mattresses…sleeping on these with just sheets are what I imagine hell to be like…I had closed cell memory foam, which I imagine is worse when it comes to air circulation…if you have a fitted, quilted, padded cotton top to place on top it makes all of the difference in the world…gotta also have cotton sheets too…as far as my experience with nylon sheets , you might just as well sleep in a wet suit… Cheers!

I'm with you there! The only difference without it is that one certain points of sail I cant flatten the main properly - she bellies out too much with stiff wind. So far pretty happy with the mattresses! They circulate air quite well, and for the price really cant complain. Haha jeez yeah no thanks for nylon sheets
