I read also a lot about sansan ship and I thought it was beyond this part, not only when he was protecting Arya and talked about how pretty is her bigger sister. In the book hes less charismatic, the actor in the show made him as deep and funny as a daddy bear, but in the book hes colder and more threatening even with Sansa in the first book. The thing about that whole exchange, and Arya was the only other person in that room who understood it, was that everytime Sandor mentioned eating a chicken, he was talking about killing somebody. At first it was just going to be the talker, because he was rude to Arya, with the whole trading chickens comment. But when the Talker looked back at his friend, he knew he would have to kill two. After that he knew he was just going to kill the whole lot of them on principle.
