A devlog of how I made "Don't Leaf Me," a 2D platformer made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 46. The theme was "keep it alive."

Ludum Dare is a worldwide game jam that happens twice a year. This was submitted for the compo, where a single person has to create a video game within the time limit and create all of the art and music on their own.
This was the first time I've published a game with entirely my own art and music. The game was made in Unity and the art was made with Aseprite.

DevDrawer thanks again! It’s really nice to hear good feedback like this because these videos take a lot of time to make. And thanks for the input, I’ve been getting better at talking louder but I guess I still need to work at it apparently haha. I’ll be posting a video about making an unbeatable tic tac toe AI in a few days, so if you watch that one then let me know if the audio is better. Thanks again!

omg, just played it, and i glitched the water droplets out of the stage after beating it XD

cute game! That was pretty fun! Love the animation when you get hit but I think it would've been more satisfying if there was a different animation when you reach the water - maybe the plant getting hydrated and a drinking sfx.

cool game man, i'm stuck with creating art. I pretty much know enough unity c# to put something together my issue is with the game art. I have same pixel program as you and watched some tutorial but still suck at making art which stops me from even working in unity.

TheNamesJT Yeah, my art used to be really bad too. What helped was when I started looking at pixel art I liked and just copying it to see how they make it look good. Then over time you can start putting your own spin on things, and eventually make original art that looks good. Or you could find some free assets on the unity store or itch.io and use those
