Making of Pong: Battle Royale || Devlog

The process of how I made a local multiplayer version of Pong in Java. Except there are ten paddles. And five balls.
The game took a couple days to finish programming. I used the Eclipse IDE to write it. I learned how to do most of the graphics processing in Java through online tutorials. I'd be interested in making an online multiplayer version of this in the future.

Ooh I have idea, if the game had say 100 players (or any number idk), the arena could have that many sides. And half that many balls, with each player occupying a side. Then, as each player is eliminated, reduce the number of sides, and as every two players are eliminated, remove a ball. Then the last two players face off, classic pong. Anyways good vids

I tried this at one point some time ago but with a dynamicly changing map. Never really got it working but would be epic to make it into a browser game

What you could do for online multiplayer is instead of a rectangle with two sides being “player areas” is make a hectogon with 100 player areas and use cool and interesting math to make the projectiles bounce at different angles depending on what way a certain players paddle faces.

Do it turn based, so each player on each side gets a turn and if they lose on their turn they lose their paddle and it's until there's only two players left

Idea: at the start you choose a team red or green whoever gets more points before the timer runs out wins

Idea: make a blue paddle that if you touch it it kills you,and it spawns around the map randomly

How did you figure out the math?

You need to look at the height of the paddle and decide how far it should be able to move. I think I allowed them to move a distance equal to their height, and since the position of the paddle is the point in the top left, it's lowest x--value will be its initial value minus its height
