I don't understand how these guys analyse things. 2014, Neymar was carrying Brazil on his back up until he literally had some vertebrate displaced, missed a game and Brazil was beaten 7-1....2018, while not at his best, he was trying his best to carry an again out-of-sorts Brazil team that still seemed shaken up from 2014. Fast forward to 2022, same old story, was trying to wing games for Brazil on his own. Problem is: he only plays offense. Messi had the entire Argentine team stepping up. Brasil as a team threw all hopes at the feet at Neymar and that's terribly unfair.

Neymar has done enough to be considered as one of the best players of our generation since at 19 playing for Santos he was voted top 10 in Ballon Dor voting playing outside a top 5 league in Europe, he was crucial in a Barcelona team that won the treble in 2015 and he was the top scorer in the champions league along with Messi and Ronaldo and even at PSG he had his great moments for them domestically and got them to a champions league final in 2020. Now he’s the top scorer of all time in the history of Brazil scoring 79 goals for them and along with that he has 56 assists involved in a has a goal/assist ratio per game for his country which is impressively good. People can question what he does off the field, players have lives outside of football as well and they should be able to enjoy it without being criticized but those who say Neymar only cares about partying and not the game I don’t know what to say there’s nothing wrong in him doing that athletes should be able to have fun off the pitch without anybody criticizing what they do. It’s not even about his behavior off the field that has put him under scrutiny throughout his career, Neymar’s move to PSG was simply the wrong decision as he wanted to have his own team and be the main man and step out of Messi’s shadow at Barcelona but he should’ve stayed there which would’ve been a better overall decision in his career but no he decided to go to PSG and it’s not even about money or having his own team, the league he’s playing in is considered as a weak league and not the most competitive and playing in Ligue 1 meant that not only did he throw away the best years of his career by playing in a league that lacks quality competition, he tarnished his legacy by going there since whatever he achieved domestically people were never gonna respect him he was never gonna get praise for winning 5 Ligue 1 titles or the 14 trophies they won, the goals he scored his greatness there was measured off of what he did for them in the champions league and unfortunately Neymar is seen as a failure at PSG for not winning the champions league for them since the reality people don’t care about your success domestically in Ligue 1. He fell short of his full potential and he’s now playing in Saudi Arabia at the age of 31 which has led to people saying that’s he’s a wasted talent who could’ve achieved a lot more in his career and that’s how good he was and how good he should’ve been.

I have no issues with Neymar's decisions. He felt it was the right time to leave Barcelona and have his own team. These commentators are out of reality. Very few global stars have achieved as much as Neymar in his career. At the end of his career he will have more international goals than Messi and CR7 he already has more assists and he is only 31, at what age did Messi win an international title with Argentin or CR7 with Portugal? Lol people just hate Ney and are dilutions about his career. He has lifted multiple trophies, including- Olympic gold with Brazil, confederation cup with Brazil (destroyed Spain's greatest team, almost single handedly). Lifted every cup in Europe with both Barcelona and PSG. Has the most assist in a single season in the CPL the year the won with Barca come on. The only thing is Ney had the potential to eclipse Messi but he willingly went to barca and gave up on that dream. The most talented player to lace them up in my opinion. Pele has the most hat tricks 92, but I believe there is actually a lot more since they discounted many of his real goal tally. Other one who gets a honorable mention was the legendary tiger in Brazil Arthur Friedreich who is said to scored 1300 goals although not officially confirmed according to legend in Brazil, far more then any other player. But Pele officially did score more goals then anyone else in history.

I don't think Neymar has a chance to compete with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of ballon d'ors or best player titles, but Neymar can still redeem himself with Brazil national team winning international titles. Neymar if he dedicates himself could win world cups 2026, 2030, 2034. I have a feeling Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will want to play one more world cup for the world record being the only players to play 6 world cups. Neymar and Mbappe could possibly end up doing that too. You don't get that many opportunities to play in a World Cup or Olympics, so Neymar still has some way to go. Neymar only real best shot to be the world's best now is to win a Fifa world cup in the future and be the best player if he can pull that off somehow and have an amazing season. It is harder to win playing outside of Europe for a Fifa's best or ballon d'or. He is the world's most expensive player historically and was 3rd best player in the world. Football is a team game and world cup is a team trophy.
