Football has completely changed, it is more based on data, metrics, statistics and everything in between. Such players who are entertainers or those who can "entertain" seems like not being encouraged to do so. And fans nowadays judged easily based on numbers instead of what players can actually produce in the game (which is not easy to do).

The early 2000's was the era I witnessed great skill. Ronalidinho's elasticos, Robinhos stepovers, Totti's backheel, Cr7's advanced stepover combos. There are great footballers in today's era but due to stats and statistics the pressure to bring a result matters more than entertaining the ppl. We want goals, but we want creativity on a high level. Just look at Brazil now compared to 2006 national team. Neymar is the last joga bonito player we will see playing at high level. I don't think there is anyone close. Mind you top players mentioned him as the most difficult player they faced. That says a lot about today's football. I think a gem will emerge, but it will take years for that to happen
