Nezuko Reacts to Becoming Human Again in Demon Slayer Season 4 Explained

Nezuko Wakes up during the final arc after everything that’s happened and starts to remember her past memories. After Tamayo gave Nezuko a potion that would potentially turn her back into a human, Nezuko runs to try and reach Tanjiro and Muzan who are having their final battle, but as she gets close one of her eyes turns back to normal as she starts to change back, and remembers her entire family as they rested in their simple home as the snow fell and Tanjiro was gone for the night, as their door opened and Kibutsuji Muzan himself came walking in with an immediate attack using his long demonic arms to tear them all apart. Afterwards Muzan tells Nezuko it’s pitiful that she died from only the small amount of his blood that he gave her, being upset that he can’t create a demon that can conquer the sun, but little did he know that’s EXACTLY what he did, as Nezuko finally reaches Tanjiro’s battlefield with her hand on her face crying saying I AM NEZUKO KAMADO, and my family was slain by a Demon, showing us that she’s finally back to normal.

I was struggling to take the arc seriously at the time, but this does shed light on Nezuko’s POV quite well. She must’ve not realised her family died thanks to Muzan’s blood, and considering how the demons typically remember their pasts as they die then she probably went through that too. Throughout the series, Nezuko was unaware of the deaths of her siblings and mother, not quite understanding why Tanjiro is so emotional about it. It’s only when his life is on the line, when she’s about to become helpless, that she comes to her senses. She ran because she knew she didn’t have time to help, she didn’t know what was going on until it was too late.

It's likely that Muzan's blood suppresses any memories a demon has from their lifetime that could cause a problem for him, such as if he killed somebody's family as this could cause them to disobey. We see many demons suddenly reflecting on their lives as they die, so it could be that the memory suppression is lifted during these moments.

It wasn't Muzan's blood but it was Urokodaki's words. When she first became a demon and she fell asleep he kept telling her to love all humans and never attack them, to see them as her family. The anime shows this better than the manga so far imo but she was literally seeing every human as her family. So when she finally became a human again I think Urokodaki's subliminal messages wore off. It's not that she didn't know, she was repressing the memories.

I love how Muzan is so terrifyingly powerful but his BIGGEST flaw is his impatience. If he had waited, the doctor treating him would've made him into a perfect demon. If he had waited, he would've seen that Nezuko had, in fact, survived. He lost, because he just. couldn't. wait. Edit: Thanks to the person who pointed out that Muzan wouldn't have been cured, but instead be a sun-resistant demon :D

I cried when she finally woke. You only truly realize how little of herself she retained as a demon until she finally said her name and acknowledged the tragedy that happened to her. I liked that it was her father who told her to go to Tanjiro since he was the only family left that we’ve yet to see her interact with. And when she apologized for making Tanjiro carry all the responsibilities and grief on his shoulders… my god. I can’t imagine being somewhat conscious for years and years, unable to help your only living family the way you want to.

I still think this was an anticlimactic point in the story. Nezuko deserved to fight Muzan more than even Tanjiro, she was there and watched him kill her mother and younger siblings. Not only was Nezuko denied revenge but the whole reason for her not regaining her consciousness was retconned to a matter of blood and not her efforts.

Muzan’s complete lack of patience has always been his downfall. From killing his doctor before he could perfect the cure to his disease, to killing all the Lower Moons after one of them died, to murdering the Kamado family without knowing they were the ones who knew the secret of the blue spider lily. Not to mention killing Nakime and destroying the Infinity Castle, where they had full control of the battlefield.

She had all the time in the world to relearn things. She had magic powers. She was supported by the only group that would want to/could kill her. Sounds like easy street to me.

If u read the manga, you sud know that tanjiro, together with the other pillars turn their sword bright red with their own method. The bright red sword only helps to slow down those demons regeneration but it has got nothing to do with sun breathing

Ngl, one of the biggest plotholes is muzan trying to find a blue spider lily. It’s apparently his greatest goal yet he doesn’t truly come up with any strategy that makes sense. Like offer a large bounty for the blue spider lily and inevitably, someone will get it for him. Understandable if it’s only been a few years but he’s had 1000. Like no amount of pride and hubris could stop him from getting it. Only way would be him to have 0 braincells but he is clearly relatively smart. Like, I would have liked for a plot development to where he doesn’t want the blue spider lily but it’s always been his goal. He’s willing to risk everything and anything just to walk under the sun.
