Johnny is the abusive stepdad. He mentioned him in mansion indirectly when he said something along the lines of “took me downstairs & beat me till I screamed and I cried, congratulations you’ll always have a room in my mind”. In this track he addresses that abuse/room a little more but he’s still angry at Johnny which is why he needs anger for another track and doesn’t want to get rid of it yet. In his song “Nate” from “The Search” album he gives a little snippet of what it was like at home with his mom and Johnny. It’s a whole cinematic universe lol. Crazy. In intro 2 if you remember he was digging a hole with the shovel you hear in this track outside the mansion.

You're going to need to remember how he personified the emotion fear as is if it was a person he will continue to do that with his other emotions as he goes forward on this album and definitely on the search. So try to wrap your mind around how he does that he makes emotions more tangible by portraying them as people We were hoping to get the Johnny song but we never did mainly because of the mental State of Nate Africa perception which you'll learn more about later. Nate also said that this was the most intense song ever recorded that when he was recording it himself he got chills and hair stood up on the back of his neck because to him it's more of that track it was literally him burying fear that he's dealt with since he was that scared little boy in the basement with Johnny. Just think he's telling fear that he made a record about Johnny without him meaning with no fear but still with anger. I can't imagine how amazingly therapeutic that track was to write sadly I don't think we'll ever get to hear it.

I would just like to add that when NF says "you'll be out in a week", he is acknowledging that he can't just banish Fear that has been with him since childhood in one battle, if you will. They (NF and Fear) will tussle again, but NF won't back down from it - he exerted his Alpha Male self: while Fear was trash talkin' him, NF quietly asks where his shovel is. Fear is (was?) so accustomed to being Alpha in NF's life - he never questions why NF even wants it. Fear is a bully and everyone knows bullies are cowards.
