He wants his music to be deep and emotional. It doesnt mean its a direct cry for help. He gets things of his chest and tries to help people having the same difficulties in life with this music. Pain in inevitable, we all go through it, but people are too ignorant to listen through it, they gotta find a way out to somehow live to their full potential, even if it's through rapping like NF. Thank you. I've stopped commenting on some channels because of the sheer number of people saying they are the "Real fans" just because they've listened longer, this dude gets me through my 11am to 11pm shifts every day, I've gotten my family into his music, bringing more fans, I think that would make me a real fan. Rel Ski amen and amen... I’m a Christian who went through a serious existential crisis this year since I live with a toxic and condemning Christian, so this song was basically reading off my thoughts. I was so shocked when I heard this, it was all my hurt and heartbreak summed up. It took me to long to realize I was covered by grace, and even now it’s easy to forget. Every time I listen to this song, this line at the end always gets me: Aim in your direction, shoot at my reflection Shatter my perception, hate it when I'm desperate You just want perfection, I want you to let me go It's like the entire song builds up to this reveal that "they" was him the entire time. His worst critic, his worst doubter, his worst opposition is himself. The perfectionist in his own mind requires either utmost perfection from him, or utter destruction of him. Maybe both at the same time. I think that's what really makes this song hit different.
