This song has a sequel on his latest album, called "Gone". He wrote this about the girlfriend (seems like a first love) who he left behind in his hometown when he got his record deal. He's married to a different woman now and they have two young kids - a son & a daughter.

I could say this every time, another favorite. Have not seen this one on the journey before, but I really like this one.

In a future song BREATH....Nate touches on a relationship he takes responsibility for... Breath seems to describe this WAIT track almost as an extention of it.... [''I grew up in a small place, had to drive an hour just to see a movie I'm a simple person, city life just doesn't move me I'd rather be home with my grandparents and playing Euchre Didn't wanna leave but this dream's calling, I had to do it --....I left my girl there, wish I would've done it different She was right when she told me that I don't ever listen I told her I would change a million times and never did it Apologies don't mean a thing if you don't ever fix it---..... I love what I do but it's not what I expected This industry is not your friend, well it's my perspective Sometimes the closest people to you make you feel protected But those are the same people that hurt you most and leave you guessing''''] BREATH..... Focus on 'feels like it's HOME' (MANSION) and with his Mom's choices... Nate would struggle with extreme trust issues and panic attacks due to abandonment traumas... Also a great example of using a pop version of a generic relationship struggle with a surface issue being the video.... vs. his 'saferoom' baggage playing the lead role... ;)

Very interesting. I can definitely see the tie-in. I hope I remember it by the time we get to Breath!

Great reaction, I like this song, not one of my favourite songs of his, little different from his usual songs, but I have never felt like this fits into the journey list, some put it on the list and others not, might be some reason that I'm not seeing. But still a good song, looking forward to the next reaction :)

It’s very easy for a woman to say. Women are the selectors. Men have a much harder time in the dating world.

I agree. It wasn't that great of a song. I won't be adding this to a playlist. I didn't perk up until the line "We don't wanna have a conversation" and then it ended like it started. Me not liking it might be because I haven't been in this situation. There are songs I can't wait for you to get to.

I'm curious why you decided not to pause. Personally, when I watch a reaction I expect it, it's kind of the point. If I want to listen to the song uninterrupted, I'll watch the original. So if you're doing it for your sake, great! Otherwise, speaking for myself, I would prefer that you pause and process.

I fully agree with you - I much prefer watching reactions with pausing, and if you watch basically any other one of my reactions you'll see that in spades. In NF's case, with his videos being so story-driven, it seems we were pausing a lot to discuss what might be happening in the story, only to have our questions answers a few seconds later. Which in and of itself isn't really a bad thing, but it was also potentially was taking our focus away from other things we might want to be paying more attention to. So the idea was to watch it once interrupted to get a feel for the story in the video, then watch it a second time to talk about the meaning of the video and the lyrics, how we personally relate, etc. Only we picked the one video that didn't really require us to go back and rewatch as the video and lyrical content was pretty light. Not in meaning, but in the need to re-watch/listen to it. It's not my favorite way to go about a reaction, but I get the point. We may try once more (hopefully with a video that it's worth doing it for), and then decide if we'll keep doing it that way or just go back to pausing it the first time through. I think the Mrs. is more of a watch 2x times person, whereas I like to get it all out there right away or I forget. We shall see! Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, there are rarely NF songs I dislike, but this one is always auto skip.
