I think people were expecting more actual paleontology rather than surreal cartoons

I LOVED this film when going to film school ( S.F. State U) in the 70's and I still love it. It is pure joy and pure fun. It is NOT "old" at all---it is a classic, meaning it's value transcends time. Loosen up, lighten up, light up and just enjoy it. The NFB does it again---creativity and invention of animation at its finest!! It is---EVOLUTION through cartoons!

Solid favourite. Mechanized babies coming out of mum's side seriously creeped me out as a kid.

Holy shit, This feels so old. I'm getting some really old cartoons vibes

Isn't that nice? And when those vibes stop, you can just switch back to those incredibly fresh-feeling Japanese animes.

I saw this in school as a boy. I loved it! There’s a lot of smart points about evolution and how it works.

The part at 07:30 reminds me of an episode of THE FAR SIDE where dinosaurs make fun of a little furry creature, but one of them notices that it's starting to snow... For another amusing animated take on evolution, try the Ravel's Bolero sequence in Bruno Bozzetto's ALLEGRO NON TROPPO!

Love this.its meant to be a funny cartoon. People didn't watch the tv back then for education. They read BOOKS. this teaches enough if you have the brains to actually take in knowledge. but overall it was intended as a fun cartoon. 🎉
Man oh man. I know they did a hell of a lot of drugs back in the 70s. Yeah, that must be how it happened. Two different kinds of fungus farted and made a hell of a lot more. Yeah baby, pass me the reefer again and I'll see it clearly. Yeah baby. Those dudes in college have it all figured out. Totally entertaining video but man, makes about as much sense as...well they do.
