I love Montgomery. I don’t get why people wanna push him out. I think he did so much more for the team at critical times than people give him credit for. I went to all the home games and even though we had an awesome season there were some questionable moments - times when we were down or you could tell the team wasn’t clicking right then - and feel like more often than not, it was Montgomery that we could rely on for a tough, solid down and just totally shift the vibe back to beast mode.

Very very on point information. I pay attention to everything lions and this was one of the best q and a's ive seen done on the team.

Honestly Ben answered every one of these questions as well as I could possibly imagine anyone other than an Allen Park employee answering (like you, don't miss anything Lions - been a fan for 38 years, and in sports journalism most of my life). Love how he brought up Campbell's honesty and transparency, and so happy to finally hear someone tell the story about Campbell and this offense not being all just Ben Johnson's brain. What Ben said here is ON POINT. It even goes further when you think about how Dan demoted Lynn to I think running game coordinator, went up in front of the media and league and took all responsibility on himself. "My offense, I call it, it's on me, demoting Lynn is hard but best for the team"... But then... he brought Ben along. Ben and Jared and him are all, IMO, nearly equally responsible for this offense. Other input, too, but they all tell the matching story about how this offense got built. Long story short, Dan knew he couldn't do what he wanted to do as coach while holding play-calling duties, so he brought Ben along and shielded him through his own responsibility and accountability from scrutiny due to the Lions being 0-10-1 before their first win and finishing as another "SOL" team. But they did enough down the stretch for Dan to turn that duty over to him, and he did - without Ben having been known as in charge of a bad offense that only won 3 games. Brilliant coaching, only can happen with elite-level communication and dudes with the character to buy into the big picture. This team reminds me of the Pop/RC Buford Spurs. The Lions from top to bottom are a bunch of talented, hard-working dudes who have gotten over themselves and understand you have to come together to win.

This is definitely Dan Campbell's offense. It's a combination of Parcells and Sean Payton offense and this year it will feature "two" Jokers (Payton offense staple) and that's going to cause serious problems for defenses... But Ben Johnson added control structures (if this then that) from his computer science schooling and that has definitely added serious difficulties for defensive coordinators. It's nice Dan has someone he can trust to run his philosophical offense without issues. David Montgomery is SO the starter... For damn great reason - he's one of the FEW BEASTS at RB in the league. He's not someone DBs want to tackle - to put it bluntly. Gibbs is someone the Lions will extend lifespan and vitality by having a Monty who can truly handle the load. Monty deadlifted 755 on KZbin a month ago ... He's wicked strong.

The Lions defense is brutal this season. Not used to seeing this, this early, we are in for a treat🙂

Sorry to spam, but I wasn't thorough enough in my first take. Ben knows what he's talking about on all things Lions. The point about Denzel Mims and how Campbell politely ignored him to media vs. how he pumped Jamo tells you everything about the Lions. They're essentially Miyagi-do, but without any drama.
