The first miss to Ruggs on the sluggo was right after ruggs returned from a lower body injury. You can tell that he isn’t running at his full speed so the ball looked quite overthrown

He might've turned too much/too early- should've concentrated on a solid zone of acceleration out of his break, instead of looking twenty+ yds before the catch point. Any thoughts??

Also look at the angle of the shadows on that throw. It follows the trajectory of the ball, looks like the receiver lost the ball in the sun. He would have had to look directly into the sun to track that ball thats lofted high.

@@Deep.Purple Thing is, people have been comparing it to the Bo Jackson injury and it's not the same injury so I think it has been blown out of proportion a little because that ended Bo Jackon's career. What really caused Bo Jackson issues was the avascular necrosis and loss of all cartilage supporting his hip, which he developed within a month of his hip dislocation and there's been no reports of Tua developing that yet but can always develop months or even years after along with osteoarthritis. Bo also admitted to popping his hip back into place while he was on the field which damaged the blood vessels around his hip socket. That wasn't something Tua did and the dislocation was reduced almost straight after he injured it, which should significantly reduce the ongoing effects of the injury. I think this next MRI will give a really good insight as to how well it has healed, whether the cartilage is growing back well and if the fracture has put his hip socket out of its natural shape. Either way, it's something that will need to be monitored constantly but it won't have the immediate effect that Bo Jackson suffered from.

That speaks more to how little talent Ole Miss has on their line than it does Alabama's line. Alabama's offensive-line has been an overrated piece of their team ever since 2013. There have been individuals that're extremely good (Ryan Kelly, Jonah Williams, and Jedrick Wills) and a few that were slightly above average to average (Ross Pierschbacher and Bradley Bozeman come to mind), but a whole slew of them were either not that talented/coached well or were penalty machines (Cam fucking Robinson and the Kouandijo brothers are the most mind-numbing linemen you'll ever watch, because it's a litany of wasted potential). I've been watching Alabama play since I came out of the womb, and it's truly irritating when people act like their offensive-line are something that've always been good under Saban, when in reality that hasn't been a strong position group on the team for like seven years.

The sluggo that was missed looked like Tua expected him to be a yard or two closer inside, Ruggs drifted too much to the left
@PlasticSausages
@PlasticSausages 4 жыл бұрын
With no help coming, I thought Tua could have slowed down his motion just a hair on the Sluggo - that would result in a little more air under the ball, and he had about 15 yards in front of the receiver to work with, so I think that would have resulted in the receiver being able to get to it, and, at worst, a DPI (if the DB managed to catch up, which was highly unlikely). DPIs should not be underrated in those situations - put the DB under pressure (perhaps more relevant for NFL rules, but a 15yd penalty is effectively an explosive play on a drive, which will result in a significant increase in your probability of scoring).

It always feels strange to watch film on a lefty. We need a video on how left handedness impacts QB play...or more so how it throws DBs off their game, haha.
@mattnorris7124
@mattnorris7124 4 жыл бұрын
I think what will be interesting is how the O-Line gets constructed around lefties as well. For so long, teams have been putting their strongest edge rushers on the left hand side of offenses because it's normally the QB's blind side. Then teams started putting their best tackles on the left to combat that, now you frequently see guys like JJ Watt, Von Miller, Khalil Mack, Danielle Hunter, Cameron Jordan line up on the offense's right side to take advantage of that generally being the weaker position. With left handed QB's now, you're either going to NEED to move your starting LT to RT because that RT spot personnel wise will normally be weaker AND it will be the QB's blind side or look at drafting a LT to use at RT, or hope you can draft a really good RT that's played with a lefty QB in college.

6:19 Is not a miss. That is a 4.27 Henry Ruggs not running with intensity coming out of the break. And when you throw with the anticipation that Tua throws with, he's expecting Ruggs to be moving. You see when Ruggs looks up he hits a burst of speed and almost catches up to it.

It's just difficult to properly evaluate Tua when he is throwing to 4 first-round receivers (Jeudy, Ruggs, Waddle, Smith), being protected by 2 first-round caliber offensive lineman (Wills, Leatherwood) and being coached by the greatest mind in college football history (Saban). Who's to say Love/Herbert couldn't do the same or better given that talent and winning environment?
@mademois-elly
@mademois-elly 4 жыл бұрын
Everyone keeps saying his WRs are all first-rounders and incredibly talented. I agree, but let's not forget who is putting the ball in a place where the receivers can run after catch. Without a QB who can get the ball out of his hand before a sack, these WR wouldn't be able to showcase their talent. Tua will have NFL caliber wide receivers in the NFL too. He's shown his skills are translatable to the NFL, probably more so than any QB in the last few years.
@dubk617beats
@dubk617beats 4 жыл бұрын
Burrow sat behind several QBs at Ohio State who are not in the league right (similar to Mitch Trubisky btw). So the talent argument is a total crapshoot.💯 also, Herbert struggles with reads in a conference where no one consistent defense on the backend lol (worse than the Big 12 overall in my opinion). Also,most playbooks are geared towards right handed QBs and right side of the field reads. This is the same foundation that left handed QBs are left to operate with. With this foundation, Tua has built an uncanny ability to use touch and anticipation on throws consistently. The only other Top QB to do this consistently, is Joe Burrow. 💯 go to the other NFL Draft Analysis videos and it will confirm everything that I have said💯 if Tua underachieved at Alabama like Jake Coker for example, then the public would either criticize Saban, bash Tua or give his receivers a break. Because he has broken records at Alabama at a position that has been historically held by taller, less mobile QBs (Greg McEllroy for example, is 6'3 and a statue😂), makes his production and skillset even more valuable for Alabama football and for the game of football overall. Tua is the Steph Curry of this years NFL Draft.💯
@BrianGlaze
@BrianGlaze 4 жыл бұрын
Connor Reid you can have plenty of talent around you but not capitalize on it. I’ve seen plenty of QBs with 1st round talent around them and not play up to the potential of the talent. You have to actually be able to do what you are supposed to be this successful.
@connor8627
@connor8627 4 жыл бұрын
@@BrianGlaze For sure, I'm not saying he isn't a talented QB, he's elite regardless of how good his situation was at Alabama. Still, if I'm taking his hip surgery into account and the fact that he is injury-prone, he's going to be exposed to more hits at the NFL level. I'd be concerned about picking him top-5 if I'm Miami, in my evaluation when you factor everything in he just isn't that far ahead of a Love/Herbert

Odarris Dhaiti thanks for the reply. I do think accuracy is impacted by talent around you. For example when you have 4 elite WRs to throw to you’re going to have bigger windows because those guys know how to separate. Let alone higher chance of catching the ball (herbert & love had so many drops) which all factors in on accuracy charts and comp percentage. But I will say Tua has good ball placement. The other main factor is Tua had one of the best olines in college and still got beat up. Going to Uccon I don’t know if he would physically survive. I say all this because at the next level he will likely go to a team with less superior talent around him. Which means less protection and much smaller windows.

He worries me not that I don't think he will be a starter but I worry about some of his misses and. I worry if his elusiveness will translate in the NFL. I mean the first deep throw in this vid could be a pick at the next level and it's a catch because his receiver was so open he could stop and jump for the ball. In the NFL you may get that once a game but usually the DB will be on the receiver and that could be a pick. I ,earn missing wide open guys is worrisome as well. His ankle injuries don't worry me too much but problems with that hip could crop up within a month of his next MRI, next season or might not show up for a decade and I think that's the problem, it's the uncertainty of not having an idea of when problems are likely to occur.

If he wants to do content for patreons, that's fine. But doing half content for free and half behind a paywall is stupid af. Dude's voice is monotone as hell, too. I mean it's not even delivered well. So to pay for sub par content when there's others out there doing the same thing, but with better editing and commentary for free, would be foolish. What I am asking doing is giving feedback for the majority of the people here. People like series to be consistent in length and delivery/detail. "Pick one format and stick with it!" has nothing to do with paying for tua all 22. it has more to do with him trying to grab cash bc this series has been the most successful thing on his channel so far. He should have stuck with the long format and if he wants to put his "top players" behind a paywall fine. But this half and half shit is half assed for the free audience and that's WAY MORE than half of his audience. Maybe not half of the revenue he receives for doing this, idk... either way the inconsistency is wack af and I'll go watch something else! Baker oh I agree but this is true with most QBs I look for guys that even with talent elevate that talent. Tua and Burrow (maybe) did. With Hurts throwing to mostly same talent we didn’t see that kind of explosion. Whether that was Coach Saban changing philosophy or Tua being a league of his own as a passer is to be determined. Lawrence had complete studs that catch anything he throws and he’s developing really bad habits because of it. I hope they work on his mechanics and basics more this year as he grows. Burrow that is my only pause is he couldn’t beat out top talent elsewhere and didn’t look like a world beater first time. I think part of that was more system they ran his first year. So it’ll be interesting. If Tua wasn’t injured this year he’d be my top lock. But Burrow showed a lot of great potential, decision making and growth this year. Tua did the same.
@Fearlessleadr7

Baker Swap Trevor Lawrence with Burrow ... Clemson would go undefeated and LSU would drop two games. LSU had the same WRs as they did in 2018. The difference is that in 2018 LSU ran a offense that featured RBs while they had no stud RBs. It was like UGA this season. The best thing about Joe Burrow was his preparation and ability to be locked in on every play. That kind of consistent execution is not easy to achieve. Tua was operating in that same air as well. I think T.Law has all the tools... he just needs to put it all together and KEEP IT TOGETHER ALL GAME.

Morrow The Wizard honestly I’m not sure how I’m going to feel going back to watching normal human LSU football next season... After watching Joe Burrow complete 3 passes for every one pass he thew incomplete, my perception of good QB play is probably spoiled. The guy was roughly 27-35 comp% every game and played all but one of the top defenses. It was unreal. No huddle, tempo, 4 or 5 guys in every route, forcing the defense to show if they were in man or zone by motioning definitely helped him do it... but he did throw all 527 of those passes. Unbelievable.

1:01 On play one, Tua misses a wide open tailback (Nejee Harris) going down the sideline, that should have been a touchdown. Davonta Smith was also wide open underneath. The 10 yard pass he does throw to is a little behind the WR (Ruggs). It should have been in front of the WR to allow yards after the catch. Tua was also slightly late on the pass. There was also no pressure, how did he have any "pocket presence" on this play, and why would he "panic", he had three wide open receivers. Anyone can drop strait back and throw a 10 yard pass to an open WR over the middle. That's about as easy as it gets. 3:00 The second play, while completed for a lot of yards was underthrown. If he hits the receiver, Smith, in stride, it's a touchdown, and it should have been a touchdown. Perfect protection and a great play design. 4:40 Tua does allude pressure here, but he hits a wide open receiver (Jeudy). There's no one within 10 yards of Jeudy when he throws the ball. The pass is also late here. 6:18 Should have been an easy touchdown. No excuses here. Great protection, great play call & great route running. 7:34 Tua hits this play, but it's wide open with no pressure. Easy throw.

Gosh. Look at how frozen his grown shoulder is. And he almost always throws off of his front foot, up and over almost like a loving motion.
