As a Jet fan I came here to watch the guy, and ended up liking the opponent RT better 🙄

It feels as though most of these he wasn't trying

Yeah, his motor didn't impress me. Doesn't look like he's a potential Lion.

Eric Watts never impressed me watching him from the Rent. He was good for 1 personal penalty per game as well (it seemed anyway) at least he got the most out of em with big late hits on QBs but he never emerge like the force he should've

We were always waiting for him to really breakout, never happened besides a little glimmer in 22'.

I felt the same. He's got no motor

Watts is definitely a guy that I need to interview as a GM and someone that I am going to lean heavy on what my scouts have heard from his coaches. The Combine proves that Watts has so many of the athletic tools necessary to be special. Whether he can play assignment sound football seems to be the question though. I think, at minimum, he could be a Tyquan Lewis-type "base end, interior rusher" if he cleans up his discipline on setting the edge and reading the play design more. So many times, he's biting on the RB handoff (letting the QB escape the backside) or just too engaged with the physical fight with the OT to notice the running back within arm's length. Part of me wonders if this was just the UCONN staff saying, "You are the best defensive weapon we have. Just go make plays however you can." Another part of me questions how much leash he actually had. As a pass rusher, he has the profile to be one of the best power rushers in the league. He's flashed a lot of different pass rush moves from the tape that I've seen. The problem is Watts isn't timing up the snap consistently at this point. A team is going to take a chance on him in the 4th or 5th round (at latest) because he has an athletic profile that, if developed (and restrained), could be Top 10 talent in the NFL. There is a lot of work to do for some DL coach (and Watts himself), but the reward will simply be too high for some team--especially one with a lot of Day 3 capital to expend.

Size and length. Pad level and motor aren’t as consistent as you’d like. Moves pretty well. Interesting developmental guy.

Bro… he’s terrible. Did you watch his senior bowl? It was worse than Andre Carter’s week in 2023. At least Carter runs a hot motor.

He has no burst....

Why did he play better in 22 than 23??? Was he injured?? Why the dip in production??
