Dan Marino getting 5k yards in 1984 is still crazy. Notable that the year *afterwards* was when the Bears had their star defense...
@markparker13537 ай бұрын
Coincidentally it was Dan Marino and the Dolphins who SCORCHED that mighty Bears Defense for 38 points on Monday Nite Football in 1985 (Marino threw 3 TD Passes). Otis Wilson, Wilbur Marshal, Dan Hampton, Steve McMichael, Gary Fencik, Dave Duerson, Richard Dent, Mike Singletary.............had no answer for Marino, Clayton, and Duper in '85. More Teams should have used those Dolphins Game Plan: PASS THE FOOTBALL! "Points come out of the Passing Game". Strong Passing Offenses will always out duel those "Defensive Minded" Teams because "Defensive Minded" Teams (like those '85 Bears) can't score enough points to "keep up" with a strong Passing Team.

2009 was a crazy year for QBs. You had Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Kurt Warner who were all active and well known at this point. Aaron Rodgers was starting to get well known. Nearly a quarter of all NFL teams had a future Hall of Fame (or likely HoF for those not in yet) QB starting for them with legit hopes of winning it all. That's just the QBs that are either currently in or probably going into the HoF. Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Donovan McNabb, Philip Rivers, and Matt Ryan were also active. Some of those guys had SB rings or starts at that point, others would get one later or at least make it to the game. All of them were legit contenders to at least go deep into the playoffs. There are a bunch of pretty decent QBs I'm not mentioning that also played that year. This was a seriously stacked season for QBs. I don't know if any other season was this deep.

You gotta remove the '04 Patriots from that list. They didn't have pro bowl wideouts but their WRs were still strong. Deion Branch did win SB MVP after all. 1999 Panthers by far. At least the 1982 Packers had Lofton.

Some aren't going to like it, and I don't care if they do, but Patrick Mahomes has an argument for his 2022 season being the greatest for a quarterback in NFL history. 5,250 yards and 41 TD passes, leading the league in both, 105.2 passer rating, only .3 behind the league leader, broke the record for total yards in a season for a qb with 5,614, won league MVP, became the first quarterback to lead the league in yards and touchdowns and win league MVP to win the Super Bowl in the same year, and won Super Bowl MVP.

The true great QBs are the ones that did in the elements. So many QB stats get boosted for playing the majority of their games in domes and perfect weather. This stat bias doesn’t get mentioned enough.

Peyton Manning is the only quarterback in NFL's History to win 5 NFL's MVP 4 with the Colts and one with the Broncos

And that’s a record which likely will not get broken for many years to come unless Mahomes continues to work his magic even more.

Manning's 2013 season will go down in history as the single greatest of all time. Fight me.😠

I was born and raised in North Carolina most of my life all I ever wanted was Carolina Panthers bringing it's 1st ever professional sports championship to the Southern State but if Steve Beurelein was a starter in 2003 instead of Jake Delhomme we would be Super Bowl Champions for the 1st time ever yes i totally understand Delhomme did get them there but to be HONEST I would have started a QB like Beurelein who won a Super Bowl Ring with the Cowboys but just think if Mr.Beurelein won the Panthers a championship like who knows what the whole world would be like for the better 10:46

If John Casey doesn’t kick the ball out of bounds, the Panthers win that game.

So Dan Fouts lead the leauge with 4,802 passing yrd in 1981, and then lead the league in passing yrds again in 1982 with 2,883 yrds. That’s a 1,919 yrds less than the year before 😭 how was no other Quarterback able to throw for more yrds 🤔
@DouglasFilmsLtd7 ай бұрын
There was a strike in 1982, so the season was only 9 games long. Fouts actually threw for more yards per game in 82 than in 81.

Hey! This video is wrong!! Where are all of my Chicago Bears QBs who have had the most Passing Yards in a Season?
