In My Opinion, THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER IN NFL HISTORY!!!! Cliff Branch Put fear in the eyes of EVERYONE from Mel Blount, Ken Riley and Michael Haynes to Darrell Green. He showed up in ALL of the Raiders Big Games, and produced better numbers than Swann, Stallworth and others in the Hall. BIG PLAYS IN ALL BIG GAMES!!!!! The Minute the NFL talked about the 10 veterans they are inducting next year, I thought: "FINALLY, him, Otis Taylor, Jerry Smith and Drew Pearson are getting in..." Too bad it's gonna be posthumously. Rest In Peace, Cliff. You were the best in an area where you were tremendously unappreciated. The Greatest Pure Deep Threat that ever lived!!!! It freaked me out to hear of his passing earlier today. It's like he had to die for the media to fully appreciate him. Better than MOSS, LOFTON, ALWORTH and others.

Cliff didn't score in all 3 games, he had two touchdowns in SB15 and one in SB18. That aside, Cliff should've been in the HoF a long time ago, his numbers along with his impact on the game were very high. And lest anyone try to pigeon-hole into being strictly a deep-threat WR, Cliff did just as much damage in the short to intermediate routes, a well rounded WR and threat all teams want.

Something perhaps not appreciated about Cliff Branch is that he was a speed guy/track star, and when he came into the NFL his hands were very questionable. But he taught himself to catch, and as can be seen in these highlights, catch he did. He plucked the ball out of the air, made the tough. contested catch and I don't remember him ever dropping one (I'm sure he did, cuz they all do now and then). Al Davis tried many times to recapture the Cliff Branch legacy with speed guys who maybe weren't the best WR's coming in, but they never came close because of this one thing---Cliff Branch worked on his game until he could catch any and everything coming his direction. Great memories growing up in the 70s watching Cliff torch defenses. R.I.P Sir, from a grateful Raider Nation!

I was shocked to hear of his passing at age 71. I had the great pleasure of seeing him play several times in Oakland. Seeing him catch a touchdown in what became "Cliff Corner" at the Coliseum with that now iconic sign that read "SPEED KILLS #21" will be etched in my mind forever! Out of all the great receivers in NFL history, for me, Clifford Branch is, and will always be my ALL TIME FAVORITE Receiver. RIP.

I am beginning to dislike the NFL Hall of Fame because they overlooked the greatness of Cliff Branch and have overlooked the greatness of Raiders' former head coach Tom Flores who has won two Super Bowls for the Raiders. Both men should have been enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame LONG TIME AGO! I have seen others with a less distinguished resume being enshrined in the Hall of Fame. R.I.P. I am both sorrowed and disgusted. I feel sorrow for the loss of such a great and thorough Raider, he was a true game-changer. I remember him always stepping up in the big games. The bigger the game, the more he stepped up. This brings me to my disgust. I am disgusted to my core that he is not recognized by the NFL as a HoF'er. I felt the same disgust when the Snake passed. All I have left now is to look forward to the NFL's lame response by posthumously voting him into the HoF now. The NFL has no shame. Rest in peace Cliff Branch.
