There's a secondary benefit to the league by banning the so-called hip drop tackle: Because in most cases it looks like a regular tackle, enforcing it will be highly subjective, which allows the officials (the league) to swing games without being so blatant about it. The remaining fans will argue with each other over the call, which is what the league wants.

Thank you, Jake. To think I was a diehard NFL fanboy that would drink beer all day watching football is hard to believe today. The game is a shadow of what it used to be and getting to the point that it isn't even recognizable. Great video and I think a few fanboys might even give up on the sport, but most are too dumb and think the rule changes are for player safety.

Jake called it literally this past season, & what do you know here we go with increasingly strict tackling rules. If next season all the QB’s are wearing flags and can’t be tackled like Jake is saying here, I wouldn’t bay an eye 👀

The new tackle rule makes it even easier to fix the games. The refs can basically say almost any tackle is an illegal tackle. The team that is supposed to win does not make a first down, call an illegal tackle penalty. Personal foul, 15 yards and automatic first down.

That and it gives the players and fans a perfect excuse for any miss tackles that happen on purpose.

a fan needs to understand this, rules in the NFL are ALL designed to create as much grey area AND subjection a possible, this way an official can look at any given play and throw a flag then decide what he wants to call, and on what side of the ball they want to call it on.. they need this grey area and subjection in order to control the game .. its like PI, in teh day it was whoever imitated contact as contact was illegal from wither side, hands off, very easy to officiate and very fair, but now they have added so much BULLSHIT that its easy for an official to call what is a blatant PI by the defense and call it PI on teh offense, or holding whatever . oh yea then the most important factor is the on the line, all the holding certain offense are allowed and often something is called on the team they are blatantly holding tripping whatever .. oh yea so much grey area there they can call it in any given play.. go back to ZERO use of hands for the offense, no hands above the shoulders for the defense.. I see so much blatant holding today by offenses its ridiculous, just ridiculous, then you see a flag up field on the defense for some BS holding whatever... THIS is how they get the better teams to lose, I mean how many times did we see this last season? CRAPS teams won maybe 3 games last season lose their first 5 games then suddenly they beat the best team in the league even tho said worse team is beat up and has many starters on the IR . . . nothing against the kick off rule, whatever both sides have to play by it but how about getting some decent genuine officiating and fines for officials that supposedly blow it fr some reason, with all teh technology we have they still cannot call offensive holding when its blatant? cannot call PI properly? back to old school rules and hiring competent officials.. good grief

These are two of the dumbest rule changes I have ever seen. Jake you completely read their minds on this, the tackling rule is flat out an indication of where the game is going to end up, and it makes rigging so easy now. Surprises me that they are not even trying to hide their intentions anymore. The kickoff rule pretty much takes out any "excitement" that was left in kickoffs. What the league doesn't realize is that they will eventually lose a big part of their fan base. They may be able to attract others who are not currently fans, but I doubt that it will be enough to compensate those they will lose.

When they said the "hip check tackle" cause 270 injuries that makes it about the $$$ and the talking head said. "Its going to change the game", "but its for safety"--BS!
