Very proud of him. He already has a great life, he didn’t need to make this statement but I’m glad he did because representation matters especially to children who want to find heroes they can identify with. For that reason he has my admiration and respect. And maybe the day will come when something like this really isn’t necessary because there’s already true equality and respect throughout society. I could see it.

He was not a productive player for the Raiders. He underperformed his contract big time, that's why he was released. He still hasn't caught on with another team, and if he doesn't, it'll be because of his production on the field. However, even he doesn't play again in the NFL, his career still lasted longer than the average NFL career.

Good for him, I hope he’s happy and gets to live a wonderful and safe life I wish everyone would say the same thing for him but sadly even tho this world is full of kind and supporting people, we also have humans who is just so cold-hearted and full of evilness that they judge and thinks they will go to hell just for choosing their own life and want to live their own way, I hope one day that we will see that we are different and learn to live as one community, and also learn to respect one another but here’s hoping that will come a day

After all the mess over Michael Sam, the NFL wanted to get it right the inevitable next time. Society at large had several years to move forward since then and Carll Nassib was the right person to make that step, a private, low-key, well established NFL player who wasn't looking to make a lot of political statements but simply just speak his truth and move forward with his career.

I just see his coming out as gay as an interesting case study. It seems to me that his being supported comes mainly because he’s a “pretty white boy". Where was all that support when the young black man (Sans) came out years before as he was being drafted into the NFL. It just seems like all the white boys of the NFL get all the support by all the white boys of the NFL - it’s players and leadership. Pretty much a reflection of the society at large both gay and straight. Good on him for donating to gay organization that hopefully provides assistance to gay youth of all ethnicities

Everybody has to be something: gay or straight - no big deal either way, and people honestly don't care. Nothing heroic about being yourself.

It actually IS a big deal if you're LGBTQ. We aren't in a world where that's no biggie. For example, nobody was ever rejected by family and friends for being straight. Straight people don't have to wait in anticipation to see if the Senate will codify their marriages (actually, interracial straight couples do!). People aren't beaten to death for being straight. Wise up, Miguel - saying "I'm straight" is meaningless (but good for anyone who is!), which saying "I'm LGBTQ" is courageous and helps others, even saving lives.

@@bakerman1971 you do parade around your sexuality. have you ever introduced people to your girlfriend/boyfriend, announced an engagement, even went on a date and told others the gender you're going out with? that's announcing your sexuality. I'm sure you support other's sexuality too if you attended weddings, wished heterosexual couples a happy engagement, congratulated a couple on a new baby. That all has to do with celebrating sexuality, you're just being hypocritical by saying things related to gay people should be private and therefore closeted. Also, the good morning america interview wasn't because he was gay, you missed the point. The GMA interview was because he's the first football player who came out of the closet.

@@MK-uw8qt I don't usually go around introducing my wife and I as heterosexuals; people tend to be able to pick that up on their own. @@bakerman1971 do you realize that people in parts of the world are punished simply for being gay? do you know even in the United States gay people are being told it's a sin to be gay? being OPENLY gay is extremely important to counteract those anti-gay oppressive actions. Even in the United States people can't teach straight couples the same way they teach about same-sex couples. Your argument is based on 3 false claims 1) being gay is private 2) being openly gay is unnecessary. 3) being LGBTQ is treated the same was as being heterosexual. People are gay both private and public, and announcing to others of sexuality is necessary because people assume we're all straight, being openly gay still gets backlash especially in other parts of the world, and you comparing being heterosexual is not the same as LGBTQ as throughout history being heterosexual was taught to be the only sexual orientation people could be without negative consequences.

Because heteronormativity is a thing and people automatically assume men are straight anyway. A stereotypically masculine guy like Carl is an inspiration for other people who are struggling with their identity, and our identity is integrated into everything we do.
