A pet peeve of mine is when people only talk about his 20 returns and never bring up the 200 returns he had for major gains, even if he didn't end up in the endzone. Then he had more called back. I'm so grateful to have been able to watch this player growing up.

It wasn't even his TDs and long runs he made that truly made him a legend, it was the fact that teams had to kick away from him, it was the fact that he literally changed the rules on returning the ball...It was the psychological aspect of the game and the way other teams had to course correct because of him.

Man, Hester was a brightspot in a very dark era of football. Dude was electric. Before Hester, people would take bathroom breaks on kickoffs and punts. He made a statement his first game and made sure we couldnt do that anymore or we'd miss something special. Well deserved, Bear Down.

Hester was the first to state that he would let the incoming kickoff team determine his running strategy. He would look for who over-committed, and let the play evolve in front of him while improvising his running lanes at the same time. Dude was next level.
