Week 17 the Vikings defense was missing very important players and the rookie 3rd team, 5th round draft pick (who was cut) was starting. The Bengals exposed the weaknesses in the defense and everyone copied that playbook the rest of the year. The Giants attempted the same playbook on opening day and they were blown out. Apples and oranges comparison is what you’re both cursed with.
@liltopherrrАй бұрын
I think people keep mischaracterizing the situation with Pittsburgh's offense. No one is really paying attention to the context here. I think their offense is due to get significantly better yet this year. Rewind to two years ago for a minute; what parts of this offense are the same as they are now? You have 4 new offensive line starters (counting the two players they're rotating at left guard), only Pickens remains from the receiver room, Najee Harris is still there, and that's it. you have a completely new receiver room, only Pickens and Austin remain from last year, you have a new offensive coordinator, new QB coach, and new receivers coach, all new this year. You have Dan Moore playing the best of his career, you have James Daniels grading as the best guard in the NFL I believe, and everyone else on the line is a rookie or second year player (at the moment), and things are still going pretty good there. Frazier and Daniels are powering a dominant interior, and they're still due to get their best lineman from last season back at the other guard spot any day now. They've just scratched the surface of this offensive install, all these new pieces only had the tiny modern training camp to come together, and it was in a situation where a different guy was expected to be starting at quarterback. The fact that this offense has been as successful as it's been these first few weeks is honestly very impressive. what happens when they actually finish this install? I think you have to expect something similar to the Arthur Smith Titans teams. Considering how quickly this has all been fashioned together, their early season success would seem to be indicative of much, much better things to come. And I haven't even mentioned yet that the guy leading the offense on the field has as high of a ceiling as anyone in the league as far as physical tools are concerned, and all the negatives that he displayed on a Chicago offense that was poorly coached and built on concepts that have aged out of the league are all the things he hasn't put on tape yet this year. Literally the only thing that has media people refusing to acknowledge this team as a contender this year is that the name "Justin Fields" has to be spoken in any segment that broaches the subject.
@liltopherrrАй бұрын
See and then you guys spend the pit/ind segment talking about how this Colts offense is close and could be very good, they just need more consistent play from their quarterback. There's just one problem with that, they're not starting a quarterback at quarterback. You know that trick play teams ran sometimes in like the 2000s where it was like a double reverse where the wide receiver throws a bomb to a deep cross? That's what the colts are starting at quarterback, they're starting that play manifested as the idea of a quarterback. Like it's genuinely crazy to be more convinced that what indy has going on will end up as a more legitimate offense this year than what Pittsburgh is doing. Love you guys, but damn. What are you looking at in that colts film. It's not good.
@ХорхеГарсия-э5еАй бұрын
"As successful as it has been" when they haven't scored more than 20 points in a single game and are averaging under 300 yards of total offense per game is not quite the flex you seem to think it is. I will believe you in assuming they can get better, but that's mostly because it's hard to get worse.

Yet we have not one (rookie season), not two (post SB appearence Rams season), but three (first season in Detroit) "Goff is probably not the guy" moments during his career. He has the "peaks" to show that with everything well he is somewhat worth it, but things tend to go bad when he is supposed to be a stalwart of your team instead of another cog in the machine. Ok, the fact that he is a veteran that you know can play if everything goes well is a plus, but I have also seen Lawrence and Tua play well when everything is clicking around them.

Just a fact Steve and Sam. Steve is only interested in facts. Sam's 4th game the last time he started was week 16 in 2022. Sam's Panthers led the visiting Lions 31-7 with 9 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. He destroyed the surging Lions who had just won 5 or 6 in a row. Remember when they finished that season 8-1? Darnold was the loss, and that game was pretty much over by half time. But sure, go ahead and wait one more week. I'm intrigued to see what you guys will come up with for week 5?

Vikes vs Packers. Was the Flores defence found out, or was it just exhausted and broken by week 17 after having to carry a dysfunctional offence behind back up QBs? Maybe being down to their last two Edge Rushers, Hunter and Pat Jones, didn't help either. Focussing on the defensive side of the ball might be an error. In week 8 at Lambeau, with a healthy Kirk, but no Jefferson, the Vikes offence dominated the Packers D. The 24-10 score flatters the Packers, and hides a bad FG miss, and blocked FG, and the aborted drive that was in scoring position when Cousins went down. In the rematch at USB, the Vikes offence was led by struggling rookie QB Jaren Hall who basically handed over the game in the first half. You can put that on the QB, more than the defence. I think the week 17 game is a red herring - and this game will look more like the week 8 encounter, but just be aware, Darnold is arguably playing better than Kirk ever did, and has much more versatility than Kirk. Do not underestimate him as a runner. Also consider that the Vikes roster is better and deeper on both sides of the ball that it was for that week 8 game last season. There is no reason why Flores can't put Love or Willis in that same purple haze blender that he used on Stroud and Purdy. And the Packers D may practice against a deep crew of WR2s and WR3s every day - but they might notice a difference coming up against two legit WR1s. I don't think this game will be close, and might nearly end Packers dreams of a division title with the Texans, 49ers, Saints and 5 tough division games still on the slate.

When does Mahomes start being called a Turnover Machine? In the last 12 games, Mahomes has 17 TDs to 12 INTS while Allen has 34 TDs to 11 INTs over that time. So who is the less productive player and more turnover prone player? Why does Mahomes constantly get free passes for poor play?

Steve you are simply NOT that smart of a guy. You sound like the type of guy that if the sign on the door says PUSH to Open, you would counter by saying I DO NOT CARE I AM GOING TO PULL, LOL!!! That is Dumb!! This years defense has SEVEN NEW STARTERS, 7!!!! These 7 new starters were purposely saught out to FIT Flores scheme. Last year the vikings ONLY had Mr. Hunter as a top/good pass rusher. This year they have MULTIPLE!!!!! Also, there is even a HIGHER number of NEW backup players on defense. Again, all designed to bring in and also keep the players that are the BEST FIT for his scheme - This is HUGE!!! This is a NEW DEFENSIVE TEAM! In the 1st meeting the vikings had Kirk. In the 2nd meeting aaaahhhh I believe it was Hall, but it doesn't matter because it wasn't Kirk. Also, it is my understanding (not factually checked) that on a few series to start the game or over the course of the game the packers were starting off on the vikings side of the field. With Kirk this probably does not happen. IFFF the vikings could NOT compete on the offensive side of the ball, OMG, guess what, spoiler alert????? That will NEGATIVELY IMPACT the defensive side of the ball, don't ya think. Mr. Analyst! Does the factual information that I have provided mean that automatically the vikings will win or blowout the packers? No it does NOT! However, when Analyzing ANY PROBLEM/SITUATION you MUST consider/review ALL the Facts/Information. IF you fail to process ALL of the Facts then there is a MUCH HIGHER likelihood that you are going to Fail in your final conclusion. IFFF you had made the final conclusion by stating yes you understand that the vikings defensively are basically a New team, however, you simply believe/feel that the packers are going to handle the vikings pressure defense. Ok, I could accept your opinion. However, you alluded to the manner in which the packers beat down the vikings defense in their 2nd meeting last year as the REASON you are picking the packers to win on sunday! My mama always says Stupid is what Stupid does, lol. If the shoe fits wear it Mr. Steve! You are like many people within the media world or do an average job.
