Hey everyone, love the NFL, long time fan from the UK. Jusy wanted to ask a specific question about the rankings how are the college players ranked for the draft? Do all teams get together and agree upon who will be ranked number one pick? How does it work?

In short, it goes like this: The worst team (record wise) gets the first pick in the draft. As far as who goes first it's all projection based on grades from scouts in the NFL as who's the best and hottest player in the college league above all positions. (Normally) that person will go number 1 or Top 5. All NFL team scouts do kind of get together and basically talk about the grade of that player. And sometimes they don't. Teams just know already. Of course it doesn't have to be that way. A team may like someone else and get them instead of anyone from the top 10 picks. After the top 10 hyped up high-grade picks get drafted. Then, from there, you'll see all kinds of trades and players sliding up or down the draft board. Based on need and position, teams pick that way. So just because a team gets first pick don't always mean that hot player is who they need. They may pick them and then trade them because they need more draft picks or just another position. So, they leverage that player for more draft picks. But any way, after the top 10 go, it's anyones guess from there.. the draft is NEVER an exact science it's all projection and guessing. Atlanta drafting a QB isn't insane, if they genuinely think they'll be a very good team with Cousins and they won't get a decent Draft pick for several years. But surely, with that in mind, you take a young, developmental QB, not a 24 year-old? He could be pushing 28 by the time he steps on the field.
