Jr Hunter Even if he does, he still won't be the best defensive player. Sure, he is a phenomenal defensive player, but he can't takeover a game or win games for his team. Offenses still wreak havoc on the Texans and don't change their game plan because of J.J. Teams simply don't fear J.J like they did Deion, Lawrence Taylor, Derick Thomas, Reggie White, etc. J.J is a great player, but when the Dolphins drop 40 on your defense, it's pretty bad. I know you're thinking that it's not all J.J's fault, which it isn't, but a truly great defensive player elevates his team and rises to the occasion when needed. A truly great defensive player needs teams to fear him and completely change their scheme just for him to avoid losing the game. J.J just doesn't have the fear or the power that Deion or LT had on the defensive side of the ball.

+Shaun Diebel I'm not debating the impact of the player. the guy spoke about versatility and statistics show that JJ watt isn't too far off deion. deion had 26 touchdowns in 7 different ways. that is very versatile. JJ currently has 8 touchdowns in 3 different ways in just 4 years. that's not too far off deion. especially as a lineman. not to mention a safety. he already scores in so many different ways and he hasn't even reached his peak yet.

I remember seeing him in his last NFL play before he retired. He was on a return, the ball was lateraled to him, ran it back for a touchdown, and was heading out the stadium when... one of those publicity-hungry refs called it back since the lateral was ruled a forward pass. Then the replay (in the days before challenges) showed it was borderline whether it was the right call. They should have let him keep running through the tunnel and out the stadium, into the sunset, as is only fitting for such a great G.O.A.T. Those were the days...I don't watch the NFL anymore.
