Actually, that was Joe Namath. And he wasn't talking about Super Bowl titles for a player or team, he was talking about the entire conference. He won his SB a couple years after the NFL/AFL merger and at the time, the NFL teams thought they were they only true league and the AFL teams were second rate imitators. So after the Packers won the first 2 super bowls people started believing the hype that the AFL just wasn't as good as the NFL, and AFL teams started to "lose a lot of respect from everyone". So, when the Jets won SB3 it legitimized the AFL for the first time as worthy competition for the NFL. That's what he was describing.

This was a great table of QB greats, we get to look into a past the younger generation truly can’t comprehend, times where the NFL was considered better broken because of Namath winning the third super bowl, Kurt Warner’s comeback on the cardinals taking them to a super bowl, John Elway crediting Jim Kelly for being allowed to audible, Fouts saying how he put John on his fantasy team when fantasy football first came to be and worrying about his health when he jumped over his bench. I think this was great and a great change of pace from what we’ve come from the norm. I’m used to seeing Elway whenever there’s a mention of great QB’s, and I was expecting the usual Montana, Farve, Manning, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the NFL changed it up abit and put some other great QB’s on this table to give us a different experience.

Two incredible stories. Staubach winning two SB's after serving in the Navy and not playing until he was 27 & Kurt Warner making the HOF after his path to the NFL. I remember watching how incredible Staubach was in college. Back then, the service teams, at least Navy and Army were still pretty good and competed against top college teams. Staubach could've played on any top college team. As far as I'm concerned, although I'm a life long Giants fan, he'll always be Broadway Joe to me! What a time it was back then for the AFL when Joe came along. I'm not sure what happens if the Jets don't win that Super Bowl. The fact they beat the Colts who were so good, I believe they only lost one game that season, made it even more special. I'd have like to hear the guys compare their private life stories just to hear some of Namath's!!!! Not many at the table wore a fur coat on the sidelines. I saw Namath play against the Giants at the Yale Bowl and we had seats relatively low and close to field level. He threw a laser pass to Rich Castor about thirty yards, about 6 feet off the ground just flicking his wrist. Incredible talent. Great video.

As a Cowboy fan & who grew up thinking Staubach was larger than life I would love to see Fouts, Elway, & Kelly in todays rules. Pleased that Kelly was in on this also, he’s often forgotten when talking all time greats

I absolutely hate the Cowboys, but, of those quarterbacks Staubach would have been the one to benefit from the current rules the most. Staubach was one of the few quarterbacks of the 70s to consistently throw crossing routes and deep passes with accurate timing. Tarkenton was always late throwing the ball, and he would overthrow the receivers a lot. Staubach was accurate, and was one of the only qbs who would throw the ball before the receiver was open.

The Bills run of 4 straight super bowl appearances is way under rated. The first loss was heart breaking. The 2 against the Cowboys, which was a historically exceptional team were almost not surprising. But to make it 4 times in a row, is a record that won't be broken.

Back in the day it was crazy 🤪 seeing Dan Fouts timing passes.. He would have the ball out in Route before the receiver made his break... He would have the ball out looked like nobody was going to get near it then a receiver would just make a brake and catch it . Was amazing back then ..
